I used to frequent the George quite often. Loved their food and service. My niece took me there today for Nachos and Beer which was a part of my Christmas gift. Its been on my list for a long time. Our server was lovely. However, worst nachos I have ever had were served to us. I took the concern to the server. Management refused to stand behind their quality. Rather than come and talk to us at the table, the management made this poor sweet server go back and forth between our table many many times negotiating a solution. They finally offered " some kind of a discount". They ended up giving us 15% discount after several discussions with our server. She was embarrassed she could not help us any further. The nachos had no cheese to speak of. What was there was cooked to the paper at the bottom. We had dried stale nachos with lettuce on top and a few pieces of tomatoes which covered the lack of cheese. I work in the restaurant business. We would have replaced this dish or comp it with no questions asked and multiple apologies with a visit from the manager to reiterate the apologies. There only was a small portion eaten. I showed our server the dried out chips with nothing on them on our side plate. I know she understood the problem. I asked to put more cheese on or to make a smaller serving as we had eaten a few. They would do nothing. I am so terribly disappointed in this long running, customer oriented, small town establishment. Shame on you (The one star on service has nothing to do with todays server. Its reflecting the establishment's lack of willingness to give excellence in customer service and...

The staff is beyond exemplary - it's a beautiful and refreshing antidote to the soulessness creeping in elsewhere where, more and more, the patrons have to do the work themselves: order on a kiosk, wait for the number to be called, clear the table, and then tip the restaurant on top of it!
From the time we got out of the car, the staff was welcoming, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. It really felt like we'd come to a friend's house to hang out.
The prices are very very reasonable for what you get: generous portions of some of the best food I've eaten (and I eat at restaurants almost every day).
The Massive Yorkshire is basically a giant yorkshire pudding bowl filled with delectable roast beef, tender steamed veg, and creamy mashed potatoes - if they're not the real thing, I'll eat my shoes.
I didn't get a chance to try it myself but my dad said the liver and onions was incredible. I do know that if there had been a pattern on the plate, he'd have licked it off!
He stated firmly that there's no cooks in the kitchen - they're chefs.
The sticky toffee pudding is shockingly light and delicate instead of the usual brick- like slab. It was the perfect finisher.
Live entertainment playing the classics had their sound levels on point. The volume was really loud but it was clear and balanced so it didn't hurt my ears.
The atmosphere is fun - the decor says "old British pub" but the vibe says...
Read moreUnfortunately I need to write this review after the awful experience I had over the holidays. I’ve been to the George for years and usually have a great time with good servers. However I went a couple weeks ago and I’ve never had a worse experience with rude servers (one was the owner) and such a bad time I need to share. I 100% understand it was busy but the level of disrespect we got was inexcusable. From the moment we got there the server was rude and seemed like she hated her job. We specifically went to watch a football game and asked politely for her to change one of the many TVs to the game. She said she was busy and would change soon which we were perfectly fine with. We waited an hour before we asked again and this time got an even more spicy answer. We then asked the owner a good 20 minutes later with the same level of disrespect and undeserved attitude. After 3 hours they had still not put the prime time NFL game on and the server made a snarky comment about how we were watching the game on our phones. I have never had a worse customer experience and rude staff than this past visit. Our group was very polite and patient but the staff were adamant on treating us...
