Monday night we had dinner at Barangas, a place renowned for its amazing atmosphere, decor, and view. Indeed, the ambiance lived up to its reputation. The decor was stylish, the view was breathtaking, and the overall setting provided a perfect backdrop for what we hoped would be a memorable evening.

However, the service we experienced was far from satisfactory. Given the high prices, we expected not only top-notch food but also exceptional service. Unfortunately, the quantity of food was lacking, leaving us feeling that it was not worth the cost.

In terms of the food, the portion sizes were very small. The chicken souvlaki meal was served on a rectangular saucer that looked more like an appetizer dish than a main course. I also ordered a Greek salad and could barely eat it because it was drenched in oil. For the price, the portion sizes and quality of the food were extremely disappointing.

The night took a turn for the worse when a huge mishap occurred at our table. As the staff was retracting the awning outside, an large amount of water was dumped on one of our friends. The rest of the guests sitting outside screamed for the staff to stop before the water reached them. The staff responded quickly, apologizing, bringing blankets, and drying off our table. When our server asked if there was anything else they could do, our friend who got drenched requested that this incident be reflected on her bill.

Instead of a proper resolution, the manager came around with shots for our table. This was an incredibly poor judgment call, as some of us, including the friend who got soaked, do not drink. Using alcohol to excuse such a significant mistake is unacceptable. When the bills finally arrived, almost 30 minutes later, there was no discount on her bill. After we spoke up, the waiter dismissively mentioned the shots again. Eventually, he begrudgingly took off $5, which was insulting considering the severity of the mishap and with tax, she only got $2 off.

I couldn't shake the feeling that our table was judged because we looked like a young crowd. It seemed the staff assumed we would be thrilled with free alcohol. We were, in fact, more disappointed by the way the situation was handled. I'm convinced that a table of older patrons would have received a more tactful resolution.

Overall, despite the beautiful atmosphere and setting, our experience was tarnished by poor service, insufficient portions, and a gross mishandling of an unfortunate incident. I hope the management reconsiders their approach to customer service and finds better ways to address such situations in the future.
