Havelock Garden Restaurant since 1970s — Restaurant in Havelock-Belmont-Methuen

My family has ordered from this restaurant many times in the past and we all agreed the food and service was great. I dont know what happened, someone said it was because of new ownership but the level of service has plummeted into the ground. Our last order was the perfect example of this. When we came to pick up our meal we were told that one entire item that we ordered can not be made because of a a lack of the ingredient, which is absolutely fine, but when we asked why didnt they call during the two hours we ordered ahead to ask us to substitute, they said "we're too busy". Then after trying to still charge us for the missing item, we arrived home to discover they didnt give any of the basic sauces all of these restaurants always give with a meal. So no soy sauce, no plum sauce, not even a single fortune cookie... And the best part is is that it was passed closing so theres nothing to do at that point. I've had take out from many Chinese restaurants out there, and by far this was the worst...

This place is great for nostalgia, having been here for years. It's a staple in the community. But, on my last visit I found it to be dark, with no eat in option, and tired. This restaurant has long past it's heyday unfortunately. The food is good, but compared with Canadian Chinese in other communities, it is average. Tasty, but limited choices. All the favourite staples from years past are on the menu which is nice to see. Some restaurants no longer make dishes like Moo Goo Gai Pan and Egg Foo Young. It's still a go-to spot, don't get me wrong. But there are definitely better out there, just a fair...

Never again!! Worst food We've ever had Cantonese chow mein had 3.4 cups of noodles in it..yes I measured as I couldn't believe it Couldn't eat the chicken wings or egg rolls the grease was so bad it turned the boxes black couldn't get our order without green peppers because it was all made ahead I ordered at 2.20 for pick up at 4.30 Forgot to add my hg ribs I don't care what day it is when you pay over 100.00 for a dinner I expect it hot and good Thefood was ice cold and absolutely horrible .
