Consistent 30+ minute wait for a simple burger!
I've been going to Woodys for many years now. My friends, family and I stop there almost every time we go to our cottage in the summer. But it seems like it's really gone downhill over the past few years.
Though the servers are all friendly and a pleasure to deal with, the actual service is one of the slowest I have ever experienced. Their take-out menu says "Fast Take-out," but this couldn't be further from the truth.
This past Friday, my girlfriend called in our order 5-10 min before arriving at the restaurant (simply two burgers. No fries, drinks, or anything else!) and were told it would be ready in 15 minutes.
When we arrived, we sat for about 5 minutes before paying our bill and then continued to sit. 29 minutes after we paid the bill we received our burgers (the time we paid was on the receipt).
45minutes wait for 2 take-out burgers!!! We've gone at least a dozen times this summer and have had them get our take-out order wrong on 3 occasions and ALWAYS have a long wait for burgers whether we call ahead, order at the restaurant, or dine in. I don't know if it's under new management or not, but my family and I have decided that this past Friday was our last visit to Woodys.
There are multiple other burger places on highway 7. I would suggest you go to any of them...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant about 4 years ago and were not impressed. It wasn't bad, but it was not impressive. Gave it another try with two other couples about a week ago and it was a pleasant surprise. I ordered a Ceasar salad and a side dish they offer that is a combo of onion rings and fries. Not a health food selection, but I wasn't feeling health foody.
The salad was fresh and nicely put together. A nice touch was the dressing coming in a couple of small containers. I find too many restaurants serve salads too heavy on dressing for my taste, This made it simple to get exactly what I wanted. The onion rings and fries were VERY good. That doesn't always happen. Every other person at the table was very happy with thier meals as well. The choices included wraps, fish and chips and a chicken choice. Nothing too esoteric here, but sometimes, you just want good tasting food, in good quantity and friendly service.
This was essentially pub style fare, but it wasn't trying to be anything else. I would have given them 5 stars, but they only had a coupe of servers who worked hard, but the place had a good crowd. Not the servers fault.
Woody's is back on the list of places to go when eating out...
Read moreStopped for a quick bite on our way to Ottawa for a very first time. And the last. The waiter comes over, says nothing. We order the only juice available (orange) and an ice tea. Both come back diluted, watered down. Ordered a burger, onion rings, minestrone soup, wings. Another waiter comes in with food, drops the onion rings off the plate. Leaves them sitting there with an excuse. Burger - okay; onion rings - oily; minestrone - looked more like a mix between cream of mushroom and potato porridge, taste like something that would come out of a can; wings, honey garlic - tasteless meat, sauce not something I would recommend for human consumption. Not a picky eater, yet left half a portion there. Another waitress comes, almost rush over us eating, to pickup plates and utensils. Twice.
While dining there, the waitress rushes a family of four from a 6-seater to a 4-seater table in half empty restaurant... without apparent reservation for the 6-seater.
Not sure where the great feedbacks are coming from, definitely not my experience. I did not expect an Excelsior, Michelin Star type of facility, but anything we had but the burger was not...
