This is literally the first food review I have ever written and I only do so because I am so appalled by the service that I have received from this restaurant. I also found this place through here so maybe I can deter someone else who might decide to spend money on this place
Straight to the point, I ordered curry chicken because I'm new to Edmonton and I don't have a car I asked for delivery.
She told me the driver will be in at 4, I'm already starving at this point but I wait. I keep calling back and the driver ends up there at around 5. I make my order then I'm told I have to pay for delivery 5 bucks.. When the driver arrives almost an hour and a half later I'm told that there's an additional 5 dollars because my order was too low. They could have said something before, I don't make a big deal and pay my tip.
I look at the contents, no rice, I specifically asked if the meals come with rice and the lady said yes. Now, not only are they a rip off company that nickels and dimes you but they're also rude. I called back and the lady said that if I didn't like it I could drive back and get a refund, she knew fully that I had no car since I told her earlier.
Defeated.. I get started on my food and this was the last straw.. The curry was so watered down it might have been a soup.
Not only are they a rip off and rude business but their food is badly cooked.
Save yourself the trouble and...
Read moreI learned from Google Maps reviews that this place is family run, and many people praised that their service was excellent.
We ordered Singapore Noodles, which are Singapore style stir-fried rice vermicelli that included shrimp, BBQ pork (char siu), eggs, onions, bean sprouts and bell peppers. The noodles were well fried with curry, and the taste was not too strong or greasy.
We also had Crispy Ginger Chicken, which had a crunchy batter and tender meat. The sauce was made with soy sauce, rice vinegar, rice wine, sugar, ginger and more, giving it a sweet and sour flavor. There was also a hint of ginger's spiciness, along with onions and bell peppers, making it very appetizing.
They gave us two fortune cookies after the meal, which are typically found in Western Chinese cuisine. I appreciate it because I love the encouraging phrases inside. It always brings a bit of sweetness to life.
Finally, there were many parking lots. The space inside felt quite small, but the atmosphere for dining in was comfortable. The portions were a bit smaller than at other restaurants, but the service was definitely excellent...
Read moreSo, my girlfriend and I just ordered and picked up a Dinner for 2 from Chan Can Wok for the first time and we are both thoroughly disappointed...All of the containers of our food, other than the Chicken Fried Rice, was only 2/3 filled, enough for about half a meal rather than like 3-4 like other Chinese food restaurants. The dishes were 98% vegetables (many of which were too hard) and only 2% meat. I could literally fit the whole amount of meat from the Beef and Vegetables and Kung Po Chicken dishes on my 2 fingers...Also, of the little meat that there was, some of it was dry and almost always had a piece of gristle.
I give 1 star since the only things worth eating were the Spring Rolls and Sweet and Sour Pork, and I could tell the lady that handled our order was very nice. After reading many of the reviews, I see now it's a common theme that people that ordered takeout had the worst experiences and those who ate in gave high ratings.
I'm really not much of one to write reviews but as a couple that has ordered Chinese food many times, to have an experience like this really felt like a big...
