Blue Moose Coffee House — Restaurant in Hope

When I came into the Blue Moose, I was overwhelmed by the countenance of the establishment and how busy it was. The interior of the business looked like it was a kitchen and bar from the mild lighting, the sophisticated décor and the spacious layout of the dining area.

Even for a coffee house, they have a large selection of baked goods and sandwiches to choose from that you would take a moment to think about what you would order. I ordered the Bacon Breakfast Waffle Sandwich with the Cappuccino with oat milk. The sandwich was very good with the waffles being flavourful on their own. The Cappuccino was fantastic, tasting consistently palpable. I also had their Almondine Croissant, which I found fresh, crunchy and tasty overall.

The service was pretty proficient as well, where they use a beeper system to call customers from their tables. Although, they do call your name sometimes too. This business is a hotspot for special events as well with a bulletin board in the back telling you what is happening.

So, the Blue Moose Coffee House is a highly recommendable place to have breakfast, lunch, a take-out meal or just to socialize. I look forward to coming back...

If I could, I'd, sadly, rate the place a "-4", for the food. I was pretty disappointed at the way it was also handled.

I was hungry and looking forward to my Greek chicken pita wrap, and the Spicy Chai.

While the Chai was really sweet, (didn't expect that at all), the chicken in the wrap was rare and severely undercooked. I was told that it was microwaved for a minute, on inquiring.

On asking for a resolution, I was made to understand that I'd be given a new wrap, properly done . But was served with the remaining sandwich, from which the chicken was re-microwaved.

The chicken was awful and ruined my whole experience, resulting in this rant. I just don't believe it was the just way of handing this mess up.

I am surprised that they'd rather pick out the chicken from a half eaten wrap, reheat it, and serve it back, than a properly made wrap, after owning up to this mess up and ruining someone's lunch.

Bottomline - I'd only order and recommend a cappuccino, if I'm ever forced to revisit this place.

I'm not posting a picture of the wrap, so as not ruin your appetites.

But,...

Fabulous place -- buzzing with happy customers -- with friendly staff and good coffee and large and good selection of food.

Update May 22nd, 2017: Just as good as 9 months ago!

Update July 2019: Service has got much worse. They now expect customers to pick up their own food via flashing electronic buzzers. See attached pic. Very annoying. Minus one star. Food was barely warm. New food was heated better but I received no buzzer and it was left to get cold on the counter and not brought to me. Minus one star. Coffee was in a paper cup, not in a mug. Minus one star. Ironically the buzzer is only for the food which arrived very slowly but long before the coffees. Meaning that you cannot enjoy your good due to continuing to wait for the drinks. Minus one star. Queue for wash rooms was crazy long. Wife queued for a very long time. It's like a coach load will enter the place and all queue at the same time. Need more wash rooms! My wife said the toilets were in a disgusting condition. Minus one star. Summary: Service has gone down hill with so many things going wrong...
