I normally don’t write reviews, but this just really upset me. This café has been my favorite spot in Hope—I love going there with my daughter, and I was so excited to take my partner to show him how much better it was than the Blue Moose (the only other café we had been to before in Hope).
My partner has cancer and can’t eat or drink much, but he had been looking forward to just having a cup of their pho broth for so long. When we asked if that was possible, the employee just said no, he’d have to order the full meal. I told her I was disappointed because they weren’t even trying to accommodate his health issue, and she was clearly annoyed with me for saying that. She basically shut me down and told me she couldn’t do anything because she wasn’t the owner—then told me if I was disappointed, I should write a review. So here I am lol. It just sucks that someone can’t have a good experience just because they have cancer. I wasn’t expecting anything special - just there was no other option for him and he wouldnt even be able to eat the actual full meal. It seems very reasonable to be able to charge someone 10 dollars, so they can still have a nice experience and have a meal as a family. Before this, I really loved this place, but this just made me pretty sad that someone is left out on an experience because of something they can't control and isn't...
Read moreI was traveling east all the way from Vancouver with my family and had a stop in the beautiful city of hope. Went to this cafe and asked for couple of cups of hot water. I bought a large coffee that morning from them as well. The lady who introduced herself as the owner was treating me and my wife in a Very rude manner! She told me to put the cup down and I won’t give you hot water! I said politely that we will pay for it ! She continued no I can’t sell you or give hot water and in a very intimidating tone told me to put the cup down pointing her finger at me!! Even if this is your policy not to sell hot water you should never treat your costumers like this! I have worked in retail for many years and my costumers and their needs always were my priority! This owner needs to take some costumer service lessons on how to interact politely with people. We went across the street and not only they provided us with 5 cups of hot water but they didn’t even charge for it! I was ready to pay for it but they insisted it is on the house! This is the difference of two total opposite costumer service we received in the matter of couple of minutes. By the way the coffee tasted great but would I ever go back there with the way I was treated??? I’ll get the owner to think for a moment and...
Read moreI ordered a breakfast sandwich; as soon as I took the first few bites, I thought to myself, this is pretty good, but a slice of tomato would make it very good. I then asked if I could get a slice of tomato, and the really sweet waiter let me know she’d ask the back, then she comes back and lets me know they’d have to charge .84cents. Okay, 84cents for one tomato slice, but sure understandable, the restaurant needs the .84cents, not a problem. I tell her yeah no problem (I did not fuss for the charge), but I noticed there was a line up at the register (like 4 people) so I asked her if I could get the slice of tomato and pay later… she goes to the back, and I’m assuming the manager/owner says no because she comes back with the machine - extremely annoying of the owner/manager for .84cents. The money wasn’t the issue here, it was the fact that they chose to not have me POTENTIALLY steal a .84cent tomato slice over just giving it to me while my sandwich was warm and letting me pay later. If I did walk out and not pay which I would not have done, they would have lost a whole .84cents. Mind you our bill for two sandwiches and coffees was roughly $50ish dollars, .84cents more would have not...
