Seriously don't know how this place is still in business or gets 5-star reviews, but I guess all I can do is post my review... I'd gone here before years ago for lunch, and my son had asked for BBQ sauce, but they had none, so they gave him HP sauce... expired from over decade! I usually go for tea/coffee at Mikko, but decided to try Café Brulée again for a change. Spouse and I took two café lattés which were both lukewarm. How do you make fresh espresso coffee with steamed milk and have it turn out lukewarm??? I also took an apple danish, and when it came it was soggy, the filling was searing hot, but the exterior was barely warm, so it was evident it had been reheated in a microwave. Again, who heats pastries in a microwave?! That's how you get a soggy pastry. Oh, and lots of hornets on the terrasse. To top things off, head to the single bathroom, and as I open the door, someone's already in there and slams the door shut. Don't know if they forgot to lock it, or it just didn't lock, but I didn't bother asking and just got the hell out. Oh, I forgot... while we were ordering, spotted someone sitting at an inside table, SLEEPING. (Part of the staff?) Classy!
ADDENDUM: As expected, the owner wrote off everything (as in other reviews) as exaggeration. And yet, I wrote an honest review. The HP sauce we were handed WAS expired for over a decade, completely inedible, (it was lumpy!) and there were several aghast witnesses. Both my spouse's and my lattés were barely warm. Again, not a fluke nor an exaggeration. And doesn't matter how fresh a pastry is, if you nuke it, it will turn to mush. Dismissing the quality of the lattés and pastries as not indicative of the overall quality of the restaurant is an oxymoron. EVERYTHING served should be of acceptable quality, and if it isn't, should be addressed, not dismissed. Should I add that several of the terrasse tables had holes in them? Enough said. I will indeed...
Read moreHorrible horrible and even more horrible. Went with my daughter for lunch today and let me tell you, don't waste your money on this place. Showed up at 12:30pm and we went inside to find out if we can just sit outside being a nice sunny day. Yup, go and the lady will come and see you. First thing.. dirty inside with food left over on the front table with utensils and dishes all over the place. Ok they have been busy and didn't have time to bring these dirty dishes and discarded food away. So now, we order. An western omelet for my daughter, which comes with salad and fries and I order a grilled veggie and goat cheese salad with mimosas. A couple of guys show up 10 minutes after us and were seated a few tables away. Well they order and all should be good right... well, they brought our plates to the 2 fellows, which one of them starts picking at the fries and calls the waitress back to tell her he didn't order that kind of omelet. She takes both plates and goes inside to only then turn around and bring us those plates and says "Enjoy". Really !!!! My daughter went back inside and told the lady that this plate had already been picked in by another client. She shrugged and said, "will get you new fries" yayy both her and I kinda ate a bit and when we came the end of our meal time, I went in to tell them to forget about the fries since we had finished abruptly our meal. She had the fries in her hands and just put them with the other discarded food, on the front table that had been there 1 hour before. Bottom line, no excuses for this action and yes, I pay my entire bill without any compensation whatsoever. Hey, a free coffee would of been a nice things but hey, that is only me thinking of...
Read morePerhaps we went there on a bad day for them but I have rarely received such a terrible service at a restaurant. They seemed so disorganized everywhere. Between the 6 of us, 3 had breakfast and 3 had lunch. The waiter/owner (i guess) was kind enough to tell us that plates wouldn't arrive at the same time. So 2 sandwhiches that are prepared in advance were served, not the third one. After serving the 3 breakfasts, they realized that the other sandwhich had not been served. It took them another 15 minutes to serve the missing sandwhich. When it finally arrived, my brother mentionned he had asked for the soup and not the salad that was already set in his plate... the waiter's answer was : "there is no more soup". Nothing else. Just, "there is no more soup". I found the answer to be rude and showed a lack of customer service. Also, 2 of the 3 breakfasts ordered had bread included... which they forgot as well. It only arrived after 15min... They obviously seemed aware of theire multiple mistakes because they brought over some desserts at the end of our meal, free of charge. It's a nice touch but judging by the number of free desserts they brought to various tables around us, they clearly have a few issues to sort through. In the end, food was good which is the only reason I'm giving a star but I won't go back there...
