I wasn't impressed with the food, atmosphere, or prices. I eat a lot of Indian food, it's my fave, so I was very excited to try this place.. The prices are similar to a finer dining experience like one would have at Dawett's in Kelowna, not a family style resto like this one. Also, the food was very overcooked. I had chana Masala and the chickpeas were mushy! Not firm like they should be. Also I believe not enough spice was used, as it didn't have much flavor other than salt. The mixed vegetables were also VERY overcooked and complete mush. Broccoli, potato, carrot - all cooked to the same mushy texture. The veg samosas were okay but mostly potato. The veg pakoras were bizarre and soooo over fried. They were rock hard with all the batter and not much vegetable inside to speak of. Weirrrddd. Don't order them. The naan bread was very good though. And the basmati rice was fine but not great at all.
The beer was cold and they had a decent selection of beers and wine. The servers were very nice, warm, welcoming and helpful.
I would not eat here again, which is a shame because I just moved from Kelowna where I ate at Chutney like 2x a month. I was hoping this place could be my new regular spot but...
Read moreMore than one person at my table said it was the best Indian food they ever had... and it was. Do not be fooled by the unassuming outside; I was skeptical about the recommendations from locals but when I got in I was pleasantly surprised.
The atmosphere in the restauraunt was elegant and sparkling clean. We had to wait a little to be seated because of all their takeout orders being picked up, but the staff was respectful and acknowledged us right away.
The service from our waitress was awesome. She was very sweet and was genuninely interested about our time in Kamloops.
The food itself was amazing. Everything we got we liked and it was spiced perfectly. The presentation was nice and the portions were generous! (We had a tasty breakfast the day after too).
I can't believe anyone thinks this place is expensive; it's not. The bill was so reasonable that each person in our party volunteered to pay the whole bill (eventually chosen by rock, paper, scissors).
I'm not surprised that this place is popular; it fully deserves every five-star rating on Google. I wish you guys had a restaurant in my home city! Highly...
Read moreThe food was alright but my experience was extremely poor. I arrived with my boyfriend around 645 pm. We ordered 1 vegetable samosa, 2 cups of chai, naan, and chilli chicken. The two waitresses were running around and trying to serve the customers. They tried their best to accommodate everyone but service was extremely slow. The samosas came out at 730 but we had no cutlery. I had to get up myself and grab it.
It took an hour for the tea to arrive (8pm). There is no excuse as to why it should take an hour to serve tea. We still didn’t receive the chilli chicken. Around 8:15, I asked for the bill seeing as how it was taking absolutely forever to get the rest of the food. Five minutes later, we finally got our food.
I don’t understand why we had to ask for our food to go before it was finally given. This reflects how poorly managed this restaurant is. There should have been at least three or four people on the floor as opposed to two. For this reason, I will not be coming back or recommending this restaurant. Hopefully management takes this review seriously rather than replying passive...
