Really nice dive bar in the Duggan area. Typical neighbourhood pub with a lot of regulars in attendance after a long Friday. Games area (pool table) and a wall of VLTs if you're into that sort of thing.
Ordered.food and the cook did not disappoint. Our table had breaded texmex wings and hot (Frank's Red-hot) to share. Wings were deep-fried and came hot along with celery, carrots, and dip. Significant other had the chicken quesadilla with fries and absolutely loved them. I had a loaded hot dog with onion, bacon, and cheese. Nicely made and hot (the dog itself was the Costco Kosher one but it's a high end weiner). Totally tasty.
Beer choice was predictable though they had ten on tap. Pretty much all corporate brands with no craft or real IPA (sorry, Keith's is NOT an IPA). About the closest to a non lager was a tap of Belgian Moon. This is the only reason I didn't give this place five stars.
All in all though, a fun place to hook up with a bunch of friends. On an unrelated note, the pizza looked...
Read moreGoodfellow's Pub is one of my favorites when I'm looking for a place to grab a few brews with a clean & casual environment to relax in. The pub is currently fitted with a couple pool tables, a number of VLT's, flat screen TVs & a nice little fireplace in the center of the floor. This and the fact that they often keep their lights set slightly dimmer than normal certainly adds to their already positive vibe. I've had a few things from their menu (All beef hotdog, deep fried pickles, hot wings & honey garlic wings), all of which I thoroughly enjoyed. The hotdogs can be loaded with tons of delicious add-ons & the wings were crisp on the outside & satisfyingly hot & juicy on the inside. Finally, with each time Ive been there, the waitresses have been absolute sweethearts, providing a friendly, accurate & timely service. I would highly recommend this place to any friends or family I know. In conclusion, go to Goodfellow's Pub for an overall great...
Read moreStep straight into 1994. Def Leppard and Pearl Jam pump out of the speakers. Every single guy is wearing a ball cap and blue jeans. The decor is warm, with wood paneling, brass, and carpeting throughout. Every beer on tap is a lager from a major brewery. Every. Single. Beer.
We went on a Friday. A third of the clientele was smoking outside the front door, a third was at the VLTs, and a third was scattered through the large room, waiting for karaoke to fire up.
We didn't try the food, since we were just out for an escape. And escape we did. If you ever want to get a sense of what a rural Alberta pub is like without leaving the city, this is your place.
Our beers were cold and fresh. I had a Kokanee Gold and Dave had a Stella. The karaoke was pretty top-notch although the variety was limited to a pretty narrow band of grunge and metal.
Somebody even did Bloodhound Gang's 'Ballad of Chasey Lane'. In 2019.
5/5 for unabashed...
