I recently visited Halibut House Fish and Chips with high hopes, but unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations.

Upon arrival, I was greeted politely, and the staff maintained a respectful and courteous tone throughout my visit, which I appreciated. However, the overall service was significantly lacking. It took approximately 30 minutes just to have my order taken, despite the restaurant not being overly busy at the time. This long wait set a frustrating tone for the rest of the visit.

When the food finally arrived, my order was incorrect, which added to the disappointment. Although the staff were polite, there was little effort to correct the mistake in a timely manner. It felt as though the communication between the kitchen and front-of-house staff was disorganized, which impacted the quality of service.

While I understand that mistakes can happen, I do believe that a more attentive approach and improved efficiency could have made this experience much better. I’m hopeful that the management team or corporate office will take this feedback seriously and offer some form of resolution, as I do see potential in the restaurant if the service aspect is addressed.

The food serving was appropriate and the taste was good. It needed a pinch of salt, but other than that the dish was well made. While I waited in the restaurant for about 15 mins to pick up my food. A new girl was training. I honestly did not like the way the restaurant's manager was carrying out the training with the new employee. The manager was treating this girl in a diminishing way. I felt uncomfortable watching this. And I felt bad for the girl training as she wasn't treated with respect. I could see the anxiety and the pressure the new girl was being put under. The restaurant was not even busy that day. So there was no need to yell out at the employee to hurry up, do this, and do that now. The management team needs to understand that new team members take longer to get things rolling. But that does not mean they have to be disrespected because management knows they need the job.
