Bought 24 macarons and brought them to a party and everyone was disappointed in them. Both the product and the process of ordering were a mess.
Ordering on the website I wasn't informed until the time I was supposed to already be at the bakery on Thursday that they, in fact, had no macarons in stock. I didn't need them until Saturday. So I asked to get them that day instead. When I came into the bakery I was then told that 3 of the 6 flavours I had asked for weren't available and they'd just put in other flavours instead. When getting them home I realized one of the flavors I was told wasn't in the box was indeed there so not sure what happened there?
This could have been saved by a good product. Unfortunately though they are so stale and just taste like sugar (very little discernable flavor). I'm not sure how they can taste so stale if they have all be baked within the past 2 days considering I was told they were sold out entirely Thursday morning? I'm now left angry and disappointed at all the mix ups, high cost, and mediocre food. I could have had something just as good by buying packaged macaroons from a grocery store.
After having this experience I came to look at reviews and found another person from a year ago (with an update 4 months back) with almost the exact same experience so keep that in mind when considering purchasing. It seems some of the problems are recurring and they didn't make any changes that the business' own reply said they would implement to avoid ordering issues in the future, as I was still able to...
Read moreMy mom and I stopped in here today after reading about this place on Facebook. Sweet. Baby. Jesus. I thought I'd had an incredible scone before. Not to brag, but I thought I made a pretty great scone. Garbage. Throw out that trash. This was something on a completely new level. Looking at them, I didn't think they were anything to write home about, but when I tried the first bite, I was reminded not to judge a book by it's cover. They just melt in your mouth. People say that all of the time, but these really just have all of the butter and cream to melt in your mouth and make you turn around and go back in and buy another box. At least that's what we did. We joked with the wonderful woman behind the counter not to worry about closing the box because we were just going to eat them outside at a picnic table, and we meant it, but we didn't plan on going back in and buying a whole other box so that we could try every single flavour they had! That's what we did though. I want to tell you which was my favourite but I can't pick one. The lemon poppyseed? I don't even like lemon poppyseed. Apparently now I do though, because I inhaled the scone. White Chocolate Raspberry? Inhaled that too. I'll stop now because you clearly get the picture. I would also like to mention that I had an amazing cinnamon roll as well! So much better than Cobs (no hate for Cobs either, their sourdough is fantastic). I (very clearly) couldn't recommend The Sconery...
Read moreThe cherry cheesecake was the best I have ever had! They brought the flavours together perfectly! The cherries were not massive mushy blobs, but they cut them up, which made them quite lovely! I'm rating them 5 stars for this.
Tips: They run out of items at various times, so it is best to call them that morning, so that they can set aside your order. They had run out of cinnamon buns and clotted cream when I arrived around 3. Also, purchase scones that they have cooling on the racks. I saw a woman doing that; they might be more moist that way.
Best time to go: According to a staff member, they have the most stock from Thursday to Sunday. When I went on Monday or Tuesday, they had no clotted cream because they had run out. They said that they make their food very fresh when they sell it. They are always baking food. I saw that when I was there.
Disliked: The scones were fairly dry, except the pumpkin one. The flavours were mostly pleasant, except the orange flavoured one.
Dining: Takeout and pre-order. There is also one outdoor bench.
Service: Lovely people.
Parking: If you have a truck, then it is best to park in the Belmont parking lot. Free for 3 hours. See my pics. If you have a car, then you can park in front of the store --2 hour street parking. It is a bit tight for a big truck.
Wheelchair accessible: Yes. This place is wheelchair accessible and has wheelchair...
