Our first visit to this restaurant was also, regrettably, our last. On Friday, May 2, 2025, we attempted to book a table through the online reservation system, which showed no available dining slots. However, when we called the restaurant directly, we were able to secure a table for 5:00 PM. Upon arrival, we were seated at a very small table positioned directly in front of the air conditioning blower vent. We asked to be relocated to a spot away from the harsh flow of cold air, but were assured that someone would adjust the air conditioning instead. A staff member did attempt to resolve the issue using the remote control, but after a long effort, was unsuccessful. Given the pleasant outdoor temperature of 19–20°C, air conditioning was unnecessary, yet it continued to blast cold air into the restaurant. Looking back, we probably should have left at that point, but we decided to stay. We placed our dinner orders, which took a while to arrive. Unfortunately, both dishes were served cold. I chose to eat my meal as it was, but my wife requested that hers be reheated. When it was returned, it was still cold. Frustrated, she opted to take the dish home and heat it properly. The food quality did not match its price, and the restaurant’s cramped seating—too many tables squeezed into a small space—added to our discomfort. Despite the disappointing dining experience, we were fortunate to have an outstanding server, Diane. Hardworking, attentive, and highly considerate, she went above and beyond to improve the situation. She even offered to cancel my wife’s dinner order, but we insisted on paying for our meal. Determined to make amends, she proceeded to cancel the cost of the glass of wine my wife had ordered instead. My wife was so impressed with Diane’s professionalism that she remarked that if she owned a company, she would hire her on the spot. We sincerely hope that Le Shack Du Pêcheur La Prairie recognizes Diane’s value to their establishment. While we cannot recommend this restaurant based on our experience, should you decide to visit, we hope your experience is...

Tucked away in the charming riverside town of La Prairie, just a short drive from Montreal, Shack Du Pêcheur offers a coastal culinary escape without ever leaving Quebec. From the moment you walk up to this laid-back yet stylish seafood shack, the smell of the ocean mingles with charcoal and citrus, letting you know you're in for something special.

The ambiance here is effortlessly inviting — a mix of rustic charm and vibrant maritime flair. Whether you're lounging on their breezy terrace in the summer or cozying up indoors, there's an unmistakable warmth to this place that mirrors its food.

And oh, the food.

The new Coconut Lime Fish and Chips is a standout twist on a classic. Flaky, perfectly fried fish is kissed with coconut and lime zest, offering tropical brightness with every bite. It's served atop golden fries with a tangy slaw and house-made tartar sauce that ties it all together beautifully.

Equally showstopping is the Méchant Homard Poutine. Imagine Quebec’s iconic poutine elevated to luxury status: crispy fries smothered in rich lobster bisque-inspired gravy (bechamel) , cheese curds, fresh herbs, and crowned with an entire grilled lobster. It’s decadent, comforting, and unforgettable — a must-try signature dish.

The Grilled Octopus Starter is art on a plate. Charred to perfection with a smoky tenderness, it rests atop a zesty Mediterranean Tapenade and peppery arugula, complemented with a fresh lemon wedge. Light, flavorful, and beautifully presented — it's a nod to Mediterranean finesse

And for being more of a seafood joint, this place cooked a perfect Ribeye.Something for everyone and the compound butter is sick!

A quaint little restaurant on TASCHEREAU in Laprairie. Our first time there so we tried their special English Fish&Chips which was delicious. A nice thick piece of cod in beer batter with was flaky and very tasty. Cole slaw and mashed green peas with mint served as an accompaniment were average. Chips were also served, thin and a little too dark for my taste ...perhaps from a "refry" but tasty just the same. A two for one ale of our choice was part of the meal which was quite refreshing

Because it was Mother's Day we could only get a 4:15 pm reservation and the restaurant quickly filled up right after our arrival but only half full. Too early for regular supper. As a result I asked if we could change our sitting arrangements right next to the common restroom (constant ins and outs) and so close to kitchen door and small bar (rather disturbing) but was promptly refused because all was reserved!! We left after one hour and since it was only 5:00 we decided to have coffee and desert elsewhere in a more pleasant surrounding. By the way all of those reserved tables were still empty. Once we were served our meals we were left totally unattended neither asked if we wanted water or coffee and desert. Everyone seemed to have strayed to the other room... However I would be remiss if I did not add that personnel were all very friendly and eager to help with our questions at the beginning. Also, meal was served promptly All in all I highly recommend this place for the fish was excellent and the portions generous. I will definitely go back for more soon but will insist on proper seating...
