Le St-Paul Taverne moderne — Restaurant in La Prairie

This place used to be great for atmosphere with the occasional band or singer and a nice outside terrasse, friendly inside setting and bar. However went there for what was supposed to be the season's opening (terrace). We arrived early to get a nice outside spot and to have drinks before dinner. I sat there for an hour trying to get service to order a bottle of wine. By the time I had the waitress 'attention there were no more of the one I wanted and ended up ordering and waited another half hour and we did not get it nor did anyone come to take our order for food. I left without having eaten nor drank anything and unhappy. Friends who stayed said the band started playing later than advertised and they also left without eating, ending their evening having a hot dog at the nearby Monique's. The owner needs to do something here before losing...

For the price I think it's a bit underwhelming.

The nacho portion was huge! But our waitress said it was rare that it gets this big. Unfortunately the toppings were very light so it was mostly just a bag of corn chips. They also served salsa and sour cream in very small portions.

Our waitress was absolutely excellent and has answered all my questions with a smile.

The poutine is weird. The fries and gravy are very very good but the cheese has no squeak whatsoever. It was really soupy with gravy. I do not think they are fresh cheese curds. How disappointing for a pretty expensive poutine!!

It's nice seeing labatte 50 on tap but it was fairly flat.

The red sangria was delicious!

We sat outside and the vibes were really nice.

Tried this place yesterday with three friends. Not quite the type of place that we usually visit, but given that our wives were out for the night, we decided to give this place a try amongst us four men. Food was good, friendly staff, attentive service and very affordable. We happened to be there during a one-man band country singer show.
