Red Sun Restaurant — Restaurant in Lasalle

Alas, our beloved Red Sun Restaurant is no more. Roughly a month ago Red Sun was sold unbeknownst to us. We ordered expecting the same quality food that Red Sun was known for. What we received was absolutely terrible. Soggy barely cooked eggrolls, Won Ton soup which was pasty and sour, Chicken balls which were extremely doughy and greasy and porkfried rice which was coated in oil. My family and I were completely dumbfounded, what happened ? We called immediately and were told that they were sorry and that the business had just switched over and that they would replace our order. I was understanding and agreed to take them up on their offer at a later date once they got a little more experience under their belt. Flash forward to today. I called and spoke to the same man who offered to replace our order. He checked our phone number and said he would apply the “ discount “ he proceeded to say “ after taxes, that will be $62.50 😳 “ I calmly explained to him that he promised to honour and replace our order, he flat out denied that he said that and continued to say he only offered discounts to peoples orders that were less than satisfactory during the transition. 5 eggrolls, 3 wonton soup, chicken balls and porkfried rice was $62.50 WITH a discount ? 😂 I was admittedly upset but I wasnt going to argue. I do not recommend Red Sun in Lasalle at all. Not only is the food substandard ( to say the least ) but management was misleading and dishonest. It’s not about the money, its about principal. Lesson learned. Looks like the big city mentality has come to town. I wouldn’t honestly give them a 1 ⭐️ out of five, not just on food quality but on customer service and morality. Terrible service!

Gave my families order to someone else which I understand mistakes happen.

But instead of explaining they made a mistake and apologizing, they took the approach of trying to avoid me. I had to ask them 15 minutes later if they gave my order away. My answer from the lady was “yup”. Order was placed at 5 pm, my wife was told 40 minutes, I arrived at 550 and waited until 620 before my order was magically ready as if there was no issue.

Go to pay and of course the debit machine was broken and I didn’t have any cash. Again, no big deal these things happen right? Well you think In the half hour I sat there waiting at the counter someone could have mentioned “oh by the way our debit isn’t working”.

Now I’m heading to the bank down the street. Get some cash, come back and I’m still treated like nothings wrong, all is good not 1 apology the whole time, not 1 offer of discount. Now it’s 640pm that I’m actually leaving with the food I ordered at 5 pm. I tell the lady to inform the manager that I’ll never be back and she smiles and laughs..... now... I’m writing my first ever...

We have been customers of Red Sun for at least 30 years. Our children were raised on weekly visits to the restaurant to visit Sharon. Our favourites were the hot n sour soup and the chicken or house fried rice. We were so excited to place an order for the soup and fried rice but were EXTREMELY disappointed! The hot n sour soup was bland ( tasted like a thick chicken soup….with no meat) and the fried rice was dry and had little to no flavour or chicken. Will definitely not be ordering from here again. Do yourself a favour and order from any other Chinese restaurant within a 25 mile radius.!!!! That’s what we are going to do from now on!! We Miss...
