Positive: *Nice clean environment. *The staff was polite. *The staff provided me with extra pineapple when I wasn't happy with the amount on my plate. * The staff went above and beyond when we mentioned we loved the habanero sauce. (Please try with caution but it's amazing). Negative: * We needed to ask for service twice often and once the second request was made it took a while to be brought what we needed to the table. * Someone's entree was forgotten (not charged). * One client was served the wrong dish (was solved without a fuss). * The meat in the pastor tacos was dry and didn't taste fresh, and all dishes that included pineapple had about 4 pieces or less of pineapple. * The calamari was 16$ but was a small basket. They weren't crunchy and the meat's texture was super soft. * The drinks are expensive (12$ for most) and I dont really recommend the 18$ Michelada. It's a nice display and tastes great but was terribly small for the price regardless. *The meals are expensive but sadly small and not filling. (3 tacos for 15 - 16$ before tx for example). I am hoping that this may just have been a bad day for them, but there is definitely some place for improvement overall. Disclaimer: I'm sure that the waitress was brand new and was probably struggling with one of her first groups (6 people) but I still think she did a good job under the stress she was under.

I’m not one to leave a negative review but by far most insulting experience I’ve ever had in any establishment. Walked in, no one greeted me so I proceed to the bar/cash where I ordered my meal (really no issue). The guy was nice I left a tip at the cash and sat down. After receiving my food in a take out package I started eating anyways. Two minutes later with food in my mouth I’m asked to leave because my food was packaged for take out despite NOT being asked if I wanted it to for here or to go. I asked to speak to the manager who stood by this. In a restaurant with only 3 tables were occupied. I was humiliated and degraded. I am a very polite and generous customer in general. After ordering countless time from Uber eats. The ONE time I was in the area this is how I was treated. I have to say shame on the management and terrible representation of their brand. I was polite right until the end where I tried reasoning with them. Imagine eating your food you politely paid for and tipped generously even when not being served to be interrupted and told to leave in an empty restaurant.

I had the chance to pick a random spot for a business and dinner meeting and this place was casual enough to have my laptop out, as well as delicious food choices for everyone. I called to make a reservation, but it was unnecessary. The street and the building are under construction so it was difficult to park. I arrived and the waitresses were lovely and I sat at the bench. Try the Jamica juice! I ordered some calamari, and my friend ordered a small soup but accidentally received the large at no extra charge. We then had mains. I grabbed the delicious shrimp tacos. 3 for 15$ is a good deal. The chips and guac also very good. Our party was there and didn't feel rushed to eat. But the lighting makes it seem very family friendly and a few people had kids. Others were there for the drinks at the bar. Nice decor too!

When we arrived the waitress couldn’t even crack a smile and seemed annoyed that she had to seat us There were 3 patrons seated in the restaurant. We ordered an entree of fried calamari and they brought it to our table at the same time as our main dish . Calamari was over fried. The sauce on the side was tartar sauce mixed in with a red sauce that was tasteless. I ordered a beef Quesadilla. It was bland , and oily. It was served with 2 thin slices of radish. My friend ordered the shrimp burrito that was served with a choice of fries or rice . The rice was cold and there was so much liquid inside the burrito , that when she took a bite , the sauce leaked out all over her shirt and plate. The wait staff except for one waitress were all socializing together at the bar . Our annoyed waitress never returned to our table after we ordered our meal . She remained at the bar socializing. The one waitress that seemed to be the only one doing her job , asked if we wanted coffee or dessert . I ordered an Americano that took 20 minutes to arrive at our table . I assumed it was because the young man that prepares the coffee was too preoccupied with the staff at the bar he forgot to make it . I had to remind the waitress that took my coffee order I still hadn’t received my coffee. When it finally arrived , it had coffee grounds in it We waited for our main waitress to return so we could pay. She was still at the bar. Not wanting to interrupt her we went to the bar and asked if we could pay. Needless to say service and food...

To keep things simple, Tacochon serves very authentic Mexican food. But I don't like simple. So let's get into it. As the typical Mexian restaurant, we think of Tres Amigos here in Montreal. Although their food is good, something about it feels fake. At Tacochon, you feel you're at someone's home being served real food. Simple and delicious. We had the beef tacos and the chicken quesadilla. What a glorious meal was presented to us.

Do not expect huge portions though, this ain't no American style "stuff you face till you're full" kind of place. They serve very moderate portions (honestly it's probably the correct amount of food a human should be eating). You will not leave with your stomach ready to explode, but you will leave very satisfied.

The decor is simple as well, but definitely sets a pleasant atmosphere, especially with the latino music playing in the background. The staff is amazingly friendly, but just as is stated on their door, some are still learning french, donc pour les francophones, svp soyez patients. Si vous aimez manger de la bouffe d'ailleurs, expectez que ca ne sera cuit par des Québecois, et que ca se peut que leur francais soit un peu sub-par.

In either case, I would totally go back. I can't wait to test out their cocktails, nachos and burritos next time!

Thank you Tacochon for a lovely dining...
