I came to visit my family and my mom suggested we go to Cora’s for breakfast, she had mentioned before that there is an old lady there who has always been rude to her but we ignored it because the food there is very yummy. We got seated right away and the service was decent until we got our food, it was 2 adults and 2 kids we got our food within a reasonable time but one of the kids ordered cheese on his potatoes which he didn’t get and our server an old lady with gray hair and a bit of an attitude took his plate away and it took her 30 minutes to bring his plate of food back. By the time he got his food it was cold and stale. By the end of it she didn’t even ask if we wanted to order anything else or apologize for the delay she just brought the machine and wanted us to pay right away, I decided to ask her if she could give us a discount for the cold stale plate of food one of the kids waited to get and as if I was talking to her behind she walked away and scoffed, this pissed me off. I looked around for a manager but I just decided to pay and leave, she then proceeded to come back after checking that I didn’t tip her and patted me on the shoulder and said “next time you come here I will give you that discount”. Now I’m not sure if this was sarcasm or just her trying to make me more upset but it’s is safe to say I will not be coming back, we went in expecting a good family time with decent service and instead we got an old lady with a...
Read moreI have been going to this establishment for years now. I generally buy the same few dishes regularly.
I understand that the economy is in a sad state at the moment, but Cora's seems to be reacting particularly poorly to the recent economic downturn. The portions have been getting progressively smaller and smaller, while prices remain the same.
This last week I ordered a western skillet. This is something I've ordered many, many times in the past. What was once a glorious, deep, cast iron skillet filled with delicious cheesy potatoes and vegetables, was now a 1/4" deep ceramic dish with barely enough to be called an appetizer. My chihuahuas food bowl holds more food than this dish. I paid $13.49+GST for 1 egg, 1/4 of a small potato, a few small pepper scraps, and 1 inner layer of an onion. $0.50 of ingredients marked up to over $13.
My total bill came to just under $20 (including the cost of mediocre and watered down coffee) and for the first time, I left Cora's still very much hungry. I went to Costco after to eat a poutine (no, I'm not obese). That's how hungry I was after eating this pathetic excuse for a meal.
I will never be...
Read moreI seem to have more problems with this Cora's than I have had enjoyable experiences. I love the Cora chain. In any city I go to that has one, I pick this restaurant for my breakfast because of the fresh fruit menu they offer which I love to bits; however, the Lethbridge location seems to have more problems fulfilling orders than they do succeed in it. If you order ahead of schedule or plan ahead, you will be disappointed. Consistently I have been disappointed with my pick up, reservation, or Skip the Dishes orders. I would love to love this location, but the repeated failures to perform even the basic necessity of making my order in full has determined for me that I will not be spending my money at this location any longer. From giving me an empty crepe with no condiments at all, to not even making my order! They even forgot to give me my eggs for my "Peggy's Poached" (the main item is the poached eggs). They even failed to uphold to the reservation I had made a while back. I was assured the two tables would be ready and it was not. Money is better spent making your own fresh breakfast meals,...
