After did whole housework, my boyfriend took me to Moxie for dinner. The restaurant is located downtown, Lethbridge. It’s a big fancy western restaurant. The lounge has a great atmosphere and modern design, which gives customers romantic feelings. The servers were very friendly and helpful. They all wear the black uniforms, which look so nice. We arrived the restaurant around 5 pm. The restaurant was not busy yet, but there were still many people here. We had no problem to get a table. As soon, we sat down, our table server came and brought drinks and menus to us. The menu is very simple selection, but the prices of the food are more expensive than other restaurants (such as State & Main and Boston Pizza). We were struggled for while to order the food. The server was very helpful who introduced the dishes to us. After a few minus, we finally ordered our food. We ordered Calamari (tempura shrimp, sriracha aioli & sweet chili sauce) to share. It was a small dish: Calamari and Shrimp Tempura with deep fried green pepper and pink ginger dipped into sriracha aioli & sweet chili sauce. The sweet chili sauce tasted great for it. After that, we had Slow Roasted Baby Back Ribs full order (fall off the bone tender, your choice of potato + fresh seasonal vegetables) and Herb Alfredo (grana padano, penne, asiago cream, chives). The Ribs were well seasoned and well cooked. The Mashed potato was tasty, but it was too salty. The fresh seasonal vegetables were OK, not very excited. Herb Alfredo was decent with a small piece of Grallic Bread as well. Also, I added their $7.25 soup combo that we can have soup and dessert for the cheaper price. The Feature Soup came with a piece of Grallic Bread. The soup tasted OK, but it was not hot. Little bit disappointed. The White Chocolate Brownie dessert was awesome. I love the french vanilla ice cream so much. The food came very fast, but the server served water very slow. The food was decent. We had a good...
Read moreAbsolutely love Moxies! I have dietary restrictions (Celiac Disease) and I always feel comfortable going to Moxies. Moxies staff take my needs seriously and I have never had an issue eating at Moxies. (Caveat: this doesn't mean that it is going to be perfect for you. Do your own due diligence and find out for yourself.)
Dishes I enjoy here are: Steak Frites Chicken & Ribs Chipotle Mango Chicken Smashed Avocado Dip (appetizer)
Last night, my wife (she can eat whatever she wants) and I ate here and I had the Chicken & Ribs. My only gripe is that the chicken portion is too small. The quantity of ribs is always portioned well. I gripe about the size of the chicken portion but I am always full by the time I finish the entire plate including the sides (veggies & mash potatoes/fries).
Every time we go, I always get the Smashed Avocado Dip as an appetizer. It is SO GOOD! I do miss the presentation of the dip in the stone mortar bowl and I think this has been the victim of shrink-flation. Speaking of shrink-flation, I do think the nachos appetizer is overpriced. I have had them on previous occasions but they are way too expensive for what you get ($27 without any extras).
I used to enjoy the salted caramel cheesecake but, as an individual customer, it is unaffordable at $12. It is still a great dessert but, as far as I can tell, it hasn't grown in size along with the price.
My issues with the costs aside, I know that I would pay more at other local restaurants for the same dishes because I have paid more at those places and I keep coming back to Moxies.
Ambience is great. I like to be able to see what I am eating. The staff are very friendly. I appreciate that the folks are not dressed up like they work in a brothel.
All in all, I highly recommend Moxies and I look forward to when I...
Read moreWalking in I was greeted with a smile. Always welcoming and attentive. She took me to my table which my friends were already seated at. I noticed the atmosphere. It was very professional like you would expect an upscale restaurant to be. Very clean lines. White and Grey. Different Textures. It all added to the dining experience offering focal points to catch ones eye. It was a beautiful well lit backdrop, to what was about to be presented. Our waitress Hanna was very detailed and very polite. I had the Chimichurri Steak Salad. This is a new menu item and feel the feedback would be appreciated. My motto, "You cant change what you do not know." The presentation was very colorful and inviting. The Steak was sliced and coated in the sauce. I felt that it could use a bit more char flavor or heated to caramelize the sugars in the sauce. The heat was a pleasant surprise. Not overly spicy. The flavors balanced well with the creaminess of the feta cheese instantly transporting you to a whole new taste experience. The spring mix was lightly coated in the Tomato Vinaigrette. I noticed right away that the lettuce was gently coated and not swimming in the dressing. Although I felt the salad was a bit pricey for what it was, by adding more body to the salad, (a variety of vegetables, Cucumber, radish, carrot, bell pepper, cilantro) the value of the dish would increase both nutritionally and financially. I will definitely be returning to sample the other new menu items in the...
