Saigonese Express — Restaurant in Lethbridge

I visited Saigonese for Sat afternoon for late lunch. I used to go to their old location and was a big fan of the restaurant. They reopened as express style and I was very happy to have their food once again.

The service was good, food was served quick. It is express restaurant but they do have dining area for you to eat your take out.

I tried their beef and shrimp vermicelli and I thought it was a bit disappointing. It was $19.5 and it came with 3 small pieces of vey tough beef and a few shrimps. I expected more for the most expensive item but it did not meet my expectation. Also, it did not come with any other condiments but fish sauce. Vietnamese take out places usually have chill sauce, hoisin etc but they did not have any. Other items with pork looked better, next time I’ll get pork ones.

I also had aloe drink, which was like light lemonade and it was refreshing, I enjoyed it.

Absolutely horrible. Everything you order is 90% noodles. Opened up the rice paper rolls I got because the taste was off. The shrimp were cut lengthwise into a sliver but presented to show the outside of the meats. The pork inside was grey, off tasting, snap apart dry and obviously frozen for a long time before. Still on the rolls. 90% noodles. We didn't try the pork dish as it was off as well and off tasting. Colour was horrible and once again topped on top of a whole container full of tasteless noodles. So glad they reopened, I personally love vietnamese food, and I've tried countless different places across multiple cities and provinces, and none of then compare to here. When I was away for college, I was constantly looking for somewhere that could make Canh chua ga (hot & sour soup) even a fraction as good as good as they do here, nothing came close.
