I had a very negative experience, but I will not impact your rating because I would say the food was good enough to keep me from using an unfair bias. First off the phone system was not working, you have two locations and an automated system. I tried 3 times and each time it rang the store then went dead. Normally I would have passed and moved on, I wish I did because now I have to report the facts of what happened. So I had looked at the menu online, and to be fair to the business they only list the haddock sandwich as coming with fries. When I entered there was a young girl at the counter who took my order. I asked for a haddock burger only, she said ok and rang me up. $19. So this is totally my fault, I should have said something before I tapped but in my mind I said well 19 for a burger isnt so bad in my experience if food is expensive its because its delicious and going to be worth it. I asked if I was getting fries with that she said yes. I said oh, I actually don't eat fries at all, could I substitute it for the chowder. She had to ask the lady in the kitchen. She said I'll check and I cringed when I saw her go to the freezer to check if they had. I thought I hope they dont have. Thankfully they were out. I said ok is there another option like salad, because I will literally give the fries to a homeless person if there is one around, otherwise it will be garbage. She said I "could have" substituted it for rice, I said ok cool rice. She said we're out of rice. I said ok salad? She said they were out, i could do onion rings as the only other option. Now this sounds ok, however I havent relayed the attitude. I left the interaction feeling totally unvalued as a customer. Even the lady in the kitchen, her facial expression told me she was unimpressed with these requests. I finally said forget it ill take the fries. I understand young labour is cheap labour, but I did not get the feeling that these two ladies had any connection to this restaurant, they could not care less about my asks. You can take a look at my many reviews on here, I rarely give low scores and do not rant on restaurants. With that said onto the food. The sandwich was great, lots of fish, lots of meat in those two generous pieces, I didnt feel too bad about paying 19 for a sandwich. The fish was freshly fried, not too oily. The "tartar" sauce could use some work its more mayo'y than normal tartar and didnt have any of the chunks of stuff that a normal tartar would have. Also they use a piece of leaf lettuce. Just a tip, with the heat of freshly fried fish it makes the lettuce gummy and disgusting by the time your halfway into the sandwich. The fries looked good, I did have one just to try and it was good, no complaints there. I didnt like that they rest the sandwich on the fries as that adds oil to the bun. The bun was good, the cheese (american) was good too I like american so wasnt an issue for me. Overall I would not return because of the experience with the staff. I would for the food maybe in a couple years when natural turnover happens and theres better staff. and I will be very clear before paying on what I would like.

Me and my friend were on our way back to Toronto but wanted to stop by somewhere to eat. Thank goodness we found this place and boy was it packed! I could understand why it was!! Probably one of the best fish and chips I've tried. I got Lake Erie Perch which was mild and flaky. Batter was not too thick and they were able to give me half chips and half salad even though our waitress says they usually don't allow it. Coleslaw was good and I just love a good tartar sauce. Yum! Usually I don't finish my fish and chips because it's quite a heavy meal but I finished this one no problem. If I'm around the area, I would definitely come and eat here.

My husband got the pollock and I got the haddock. Truly tasted like they had just caught it. So fresh & delicious. I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say THE best coleslaw I have ever had; not too much dressing & just a dash of pepper on top 🤌🏽 Our waitress was so great, the atmosphere was pleasant; best post-covid dining experience we’ve had in a bit. We’re from the states but will remember this place & be sure to make a special stop whenever we pass through for activities. Very unassuming, we would’ve driven right past it- don’t miss out on this gem!

I have been coming here for fish and chips since you first opened. The last 4 or 5 times have not been a pleasant experience. Judy the manager is so rude I called yesterday a 3:30 to place an order for pick up at 6:00. I asked to place the order for 6 and before I could say more I was asked for how many people. Then I was asked how many pieces of fish, 4 or 2. I said 2 thinking she understood 2 orders for 2 piece haddock. Then I asked for the fries crispy. I was told it was their busy time and there was no guarantee. I assumed she had placed the order for what I wanted. She did not read back or confirm my order before hanging up which is just good practice and a way to avoid mistakes. When my friend picked it up the order was wrong. There was only one two piece order. When I called to ask why there wasn’t two and spoke to Judy she insisted I didn’t say two orders. She told me it would be at least 15 minutes for the second order. I complained that meant one of us would be eating an ice cold dinner. She really could have cared less about making YOUR customer happy. If she couldn’t do the order as requested at the time I ordered for she should have said that. I would have been happy with another time to get it the way I wanted it. My suggestion.... let the person calling place the order. Don’t fire questions at them. If you can’t do it at the time requested then that is understandable. Always confirm the order before hanging up. Every other time I called this has been the practice and as a manager she should know this. I did lose my temper and dropped the f bomb once and she hung up. Understandable but at that point I had been on the phone with here for more than 5 minutes trying to resolve the issue so one of us wasn’t eating a cold dinner. At that point she told me the longer I argued my point with here the longer till my second order was ready. This is not my first issue with her. She is extremely rude in polite underhanded way. The issue was never resolved and I probably will never be back as long as she is in charge and if that’s how issues...

This fish and chips restaurant makes okay dishes. Several times I've had wet batter. I've now had to specifically tell them that every time I order and to cook it longer because of that. I would recommend you ask for the fish to be cooked well done due to this for sure. Their fries are average, they aren't amazing and get old fast as in you don't really want to go back for the fries again based on that. Their coleslaw is very expensive for the amount they give you and the taste is good, but not excellent. The restaurant looks beaten down and it's obvious they don't put money into fixing up the restaurant for customers for a better experience with dining in. Their service is sub-par as they don't really seem to care about the customer's experience. They just give you your order and don't greet you or say have a nice day or anything in between. When I've said things about my order they also don't seem to care about rectifying the situation.

Overall, it's an okay place for fish and chips. Expect wet fish if you don't ask for them to cook it well done. Don't expect niceties eating in or picking up; they don't seem to be trained in customer services. Their products are also very expensive. So I give this place a 2.5-3 star rating overall. Perhaps they will make changes...
