Working in Montreal for a couple of weeks and it's dinnertime. I usually will head into downtown to get dinner, but I was feeling lazy this evening so I did some Yelp'ing around what was near me. I found Twister Burger which was didn't have a large amount of ratings, but they had a big menu so I chose them! Here's how it went.
Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right off a pretty wide street that doesn't seem like a main road is this gem. There's no private parking lot so you'll have to park on the street in the neighborhood, but I didn't have a hard time finding space. Once inside you're transported back to like... the 40s? 50s? Whenever the soda fountain era was with the black/white checkered walls, neon lights and the whole thing. Lol. It was cute. The restaurant is fairly small and that's okay! It makes for a more comfortable and cozy feel. I got my food to go so I didn't have to stay long.
Service: The gentlemen behind the counter was very helpful and make sure I got everything that I needed. He also helped me since most of the menus are in French.
Food: I started off with their Taco Salad, but as of now I don't see it listed on their menu anymore. Anyway, it's basically their now Southwest Salad which contains mixed greens, corn, red onion, avocado, fried tortillas and shredded cheese, served with chipotle ranch. But instead of being in a bowl, it's in a fluffy, crispy taco shell which was very flavorful and enjoyable. It worked well. The name of the place is called Twisted Burger so I had to try at least one of them. I decided on the Trio Diablo Burger which is 130g beef (1/3 lb), jalapeños, monterrey jack cheese, habanero salsa, grilled onion, chipotle mayonnaise and lettuce, and tomatoes. It kinda slid apart in transport, but I was able to put it back together at my hotel room and it was fine. Nothing super crazy or explosive to report. It was a decent burger and satisfied my cravings for sure. The beer-battered onion rings were okay too. Nothing special and I don't think I was expecting anything out of this world either. Most beer-battered onion rings taste the same, so it's good that it's a familiar flavor to recognize.
Value: My taco salad was $14.95CAD, my burger was $10.95CAD and my onion rings were $4.95CAD. This is a GREAT DEAL on the amount of food I had for sure. Looking for a cheap date, something quick, nothing fancy, I dig this...
Read moreI have previously dined in-person and more recently ordered online via Skip The Dishes/Uber Eats and found the same pros and cons across our experiences. The staff was very friendly, which I appreciate because take out is a luxury for many these days so a little kindness for patronage isn’t asking too much. The burgers are wonderful; good sized patty, well flavoured, satisfying and the names are novel. The sides however, leave much to be desired. We tried the onion rings, which were okay but we got very few. We tried the twisted fries, which I would liken to an American poutine (Cheez Whiz over fries with toppings) and there as in here, it was inedible. In another instance, we ordered a poutine and a plain fry and got what was clearly an old, double or triple fried batch with a few undercooked fries sprinkled throughout, that was again, inedible. The burgers would be great in itself but I find them too expensive as compared to more popular restaurant chains at similar price points. With what it costs for a lone burger on Skip/Uber, you’re better off going to your local grocer and picking up a pack of burgers and fries for yourself, which I’d rather it do than order...
Read moreI’m puzzled by the plethora of positive reviews for Twisted Burger in St. Lambert, as my recent visit was highly disappointing. To be clear, this critique is solely about the food; the service was excellent. Our server, a young lady, was attentive and friendly.
However, the food was a disaster. My wife and I both found our meals utterly unpalatable. The tacos were completely flavorless—there was no seasoning at all, not even a hint of salt or pepper, and the meat was drier than cardboard. I can't recommend the tacos to anyone.
My wife ordered the F1 burger, which was advertised to come with sautéed mushrooms and BBQ sauce. Instead, she received a tasteless burger with a mere two mushrooms and no noticeable BBQ sauce.
In conclusion, based on our experience, we will not be returning to Twisted Burger. There are far better...
