After driving from Alberta to Nova Scotia, the first place my brother said we would be stopping at is Kaiser's to pick up some subs before we unloaded the vehicle. I met Rick, the owner, who talked about how important it was that his staff learn how to make the sandwiches right, before making them fast. An article hanging on the wall quoted Rick as saying he makes each sandwich as if it was for himself - I think he backs that up. The article also went on to say the care that is taken to use only quality ingredients, including having several meat suppliers to get the best tasting meat from each supplier. While waiting for my deluxe cold cuts, several people came in to the store and Rick thanked every person for coming in - I was really impressed with the personable customer service.
So, all said...was it worth the stop? You bet; the sub was delicious! I didn't have a sub shop as a "must-go" place until now. The sign outside the store says "43 years and counting." Doing something that well for that long is a great accomplishment...I'll...
Read moreBest sandwiches in the province, there's a reason there are always people waiting around out front for their names to be called out for the good stuff. It's literally worth the drive from Dartmouth just to get the hookup. Some have been known to call it simply Sackville Sandwich, but it's legit an institution. Turkey on white, extra cheese, easy extra mayo, no oil. Those thin onions are like round crunchy pungent little presents. Be aware that there is no dining in, in fact post covid you need to call in your order via phone and then they hollar out the window for pickup. But it doesn't matter. You could eat it drunk in the bathtub talking nonsense like David Hasselhoff and you'd still be on top of the world. Had to go online and review this place because once you know about it, you're part of an exclusive club, this place is straight up beloved by its patrons. Seriously, worth the drive even if you don't live...
Read moreI was so disappointed. I've always loved Kaisers for decades it was the best. I ordered a turkey sub toasted with all the regular toppings. Their subs always smelled so good you knew it was a kaiser . Tonight my sub was so light on the turkey I couldn't taste it and there was so many onions on it that it overpowered the entire sub. I couldn't taste anything else really. I could have made a lettuce oinion sub at home for free . I dont know what happened or if this was a one off but wow I am disappointed at the very poor quality tasteless sub today...as for service , I phoned in my order as that is the only way now and when I got there the friendliness that was always there before is gone. I paid and my sub was handed through a window. No smile no thank you nothing. Not a nice experience at all..won't waste my money or my gas...
