Let me tell you something about this Incredible little hole in the wall. I found this wonderful place by way of smell in grade 10, my first year of high school at the old location of Charles P Allen high school. I could always smell the fish and chips frying up as I would drive by and one day I took my growing self to grab a two peice fish and chips.

Now, I could sit here and draw this review on, creating an elaborate flavor poem to describe just how crisp the batter was and how fresh the fish actually tasted. But in reality I can sum it up by simply saying that in that week, I had fish and chips from there 6 more times. I fell in love.

The staff behind the counter were always so kind and patient with us. Understanding we don't have much money but always making sure our tummies were full. I fondly remember calling from math class while I was studying for exams, only having 5 minute to run outside and grab my food before I rushed back in. And with a smile they prepared not only my food but food for all of my friends and had it sitting hot, fresh and ready by the time I walked in the door.

Over the years my pallet expanded, I tried the messy fries, the Montreal dog (an ingenious Montreal smoked meat sandwich constructed on a hot dog, how can you go wrong!) the Montreal sandwich. The clubhouse, eventually I hit every item on the menu.

It has been almost a decade since I first walked through those doors, and to this day I am still over the moon satisfied with the food and service I get here every single time.

I only hope to see more of this place as time passes. It has always held a place in my heart and I think...

Sydelles Fish and Chips is a culinary treasure that transports you straight to the heart of Newfoundland. With each visit, I'm reminded of the authentic flavors and warm hospitality of the East Coast. The fish and chips here are nothing short of spectacular, with crispy golden batter that's a perfect complement to the tender, flaky fish inside.

What truly sets Sydelles apart is the nostalgic feeling it evokes. It's like a cherished taste of back home in Newfoundland, whether you have Newfoundland roots or not. The ambiance captures the essence of a cozy coastal eatery, making you feel like you're right on the waterfront.

The dedication to preserving the tradition of great fish and chips is evident in every bite. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere, making every visit a delightful experience. If you're searching for a genuine taste of Newfoundland and a warm, nostalgic embrace, Sydelles Fish and Chips is the place to be. It's a culinary journey that keeps you coming back for more, time...

Oh my! My search is finally over!

Since my daughter has lived in the area for school the last year I’ve been searching for the perfect spot for all my fave seafood treats AND THIS IS IT! I found it with a search for a Lobster Roll, but i found so much more! This place was hopping on Good Friday. The line up was out the door and the parking lot jam packed. We took a seat indoors while we decided what we wanted. I really wanted to try the clams but settled on the lobster roll for me, and a two piece fish and chips for my daughter and I to share. I haven’t had either that tasted so good in decades. Likely since I lived in the area 25years ago. The lobster roll was so delish and the fish so meaty and perfect.

Next time I’ll try the clams too.

This place is so convenient for travellers. It’s just off the main highway to the airport. Super easy to find. Well worth the slight detour.

Was absolutely thrilled to find this place and we...

We tried this on a whim as my wife craved fish and chips. The 4.5 stars sounded good but we did not look at all reviews. When we got there we planned to sit down but the restaurant was freezing. The thermostat was set on less than 14 so that became a take out. As we were waiting the only couple eating on returned their food clearly unhappy with the quality. That didn’t bode well for us. And indeed, the fries were over cooked and too hard and the fish was super greasy. We had to take the batter off to prevent from getting sick. For $40 bucks for two two-piece meals this was not what we hoped for. Given that staff responded not great to the complaints of the other couple showing a serious disinterest, we will not be back.

Can't believe we've lived down the street from this hidden gem for a long time and hadn't visited. We got bacon cheese burger along with fish and chips. The bacon cheeseburger passed the teenager test, and he says it was a great burger, not overcooked with great cheese and bacon. Fries are fresh cut and tasted great. The fish - the batter was thin and crispy, even after taking it back home. The fish itself was fresh, light and flaky, not overcooked. It was the best fish and chips I have had. The guy behind the counter was friendly, as were the rest of the folks waiting for their orders. We will definitely be repeat customers.
