I am by no means a fast-food connoisseur, but after seeing the recent A&W commercials that advertise the burgers made with 100% Canadian raised beef, I couldn't resist a chance opportunity to pay them a visit for a quick snack while I was shopping with my girlfriend, this afternoon at Markville Mall. While my girlfriend orderd from New York Fries, beginning to salivate, I quickly walked over to A&W and placed my order. After waiting approximately 3 minutes, I noticed maybe 5 or 6 sandwiches had been served from the kitchen. I thought, great, that was fast. The girl working bagged 2 or 3 of the sandwiches and served 2 other waiting customers. As they walked away, I noticed that my girlfriend sat down and had begun eating. I waited another 5-10 minutes, by that point, assuming the sandwiches that hadn't been bagged yet weren't mine and that they most likely belonged to a bigger order. While the girls that were working took more orders, adding to the now growing crowd of people around the kiosk; while the unclaimed burgers sat under the heatlamp, I waited another 5 minutes, watching my girlfriend from a distance, sitting alone, slowly finishing her large New York Fries poutine. Another minute or two passed and I happened to look up just as one of the cashiers was finally bagging the two burgers that had now been sitting under the heatlamp for a good 15 minutes. To my surprise, she called, "Two double buddy burgers with cheese?" It was my order. As I reached over the counter I asked, "Weren't these burgers just sitting over there for the past 15 min while I stood here waiting?" "Don't worry," she said, "they were under the heat lamp." Annoyed and disgusted by the poor service I had just experienced, I disappointingly shook my head as I walked with my tray to the table in the food court where my girlfriend had sat down to eat her large New York Fries poutine. My order had taken so long that she had finished all but 3-5 soggy, gravy soaked french fries left at the bottom of her cup. I had enough. All I wanted was to enjoy a simple lunch on Canada Day with my girlfriend on one of the rare occasions that I have enough time off work to take her out. I went back and explained my story and why I was irritated to the young girls working. The only good part about this experience was that my money was refunded without any issue. I'll never visit this location again. I suggest that if A&W doesnt want to lose more potential customers like myself, management of this location should put more effort into training their employees to operate more quickly and efficiently, to be aware of what's going on around them and to serve food to customer's as soon as it's ready. After all, It's called fast food...
Read moreMarksville mall. I couldn’t help but be impressed by this specific location. The service is fantastic here — the staff are working their tails off — every time I come here on a Saturday is jampacked with people waiting and the service is perfect. They get the orders right almost all the time and I’m so impressed with the professionalism that they show, delivering numeous orders quickly and accurately without much room for pause — absolutely fantastic — working the cash, Sukhman. Or Paul are efficient, professional, courteous and hard working under pressure. There’s good reason that all of the mall walkers and the elderly Asian men and women are convinced that it’s the best place for breakfast, just my opinion and observation, but you can’t be mediocre and receive this type of patronage. Five stars...
