Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in Markham

I don’t often write reviews but I felt compelled to share my experience. I went by last Sunday and ordered a bunch of items as well an 8pc chicken bites which I said make it a combo (add onion rings and a drink) to feed my family of 5. I even pointed to the photo of the chicken strips/bites on the menu board behind the cashier.

When my order was ready I noticed 8pcs of full chicken pieces and large onions rings. I told them this is not what I ordered. The manager told me they always confirm the order with customers and this is what i ordered. I replied nobody confirmed anything with me and again this is not what I ordered, there was a miscommunication problem here. I found it odd that the manager who wasn’t involved in the order, was telling me that the cashier definitely confirmed my order.

Then she says “sorry, we don’t do refunds here”

By this point I was pretty upset as seeing I didn’t order these items and they weren’t willing to fix the issue. Keep in mind, I didn’t touch the food or accept it at the counter when I saw it was wrong.

Well this escalated pretty quickly and we argued for about 5 minutes. I pleaded with the manager to just give me what I ordered and refund me the difference.

Finally I got her to agree to do the refund and swap out the food for the correct items but it wasn’t the easy. I have ordered food at this location many times in the past, however it his last experience they will never see another $$$ from me again....

My friend introduced me to this place. My first time ordering it was through Uber Eats and I was pretty satisfied, the chicken tenders or light in color, but they are still crispy , tasty and juicy.After that I ordered again through Uber Eats a couple times the prices are a little higher than Popeyes. The onion rings we’re good a little oily, the fries are a good portion and just Average tasting, nothing special. A few days ago I was driving past it so I decided to go inside and grab food for me and my mom. She got the after hours special which was a good deal I think it was 7.99 for two or three piece chicken with fries or coleslaw and a drink. She really enjoyed it she said the chicken was better than Popeyes in the spice level was amazing ( shes all for spice). I got three piece chicken tenders with jalapeño bombers and a drink. Chicken was tasty, and a jalapeño bombers were spicier than I expected, way more on my mom’s palette than mine, spice wise. The honey butter biscuits are incredible, from everything that I’ve ever tried the honey butter biscuits will always reign supreme. The only thing is that my talking up to about $20 which was a little much for what I got. Also I think they shouldn’t be so stingy with the sauce. Also the lady that help me was very polite, she help me decide what side to get, giving me advice about how the sides tasted All in all I think I’ll go back, my mom really liked the chicken and I like the biscuits and...

Today came across this newly opened Church’s while looking around the Google Map to see what to have for dinner and decided to have a try since it’s been a long time since Church’s was in the neighborhood. 🙃 Arrived in the store around 8:00pm, a few people were waiting in line and for their orders to be filled. After ordered 8 pieces combo, and started to notice the operations was kind of disorganized. While the counter person was quick to complete the ordering process, the filling of the orders was not so much efficient, which could explain why people were standing around waiting for the food. 😯 The chicken pieces are of good size, and a good mix of dark and white meat. On to the taste, there is definitely Church’s DNA in them, crunchy, and not dry, however our non-spicy pieces have a hint of heat in them, causing a bit of complaints from the better half. And, they all tasted if they were fried in overly used oil...leaving a bit of the unpleasant taste in the food. 🤨 The plus side of the combo package is the honey biscuits tasted great! 😋 Will we come back? Maybe in a few weeks just to see if all the dislikes we experienced today will be addressed, especially the staled oil issue, which has to be address ASAP if the store is...
