We made reservations at 5:30PM for 4 on a Saturday and upon walking in were struck by the atmosphere of the restaurant ; though chaotic and brimming with people both waiting to be seated and dining inside already, there was an inviting energy that permeated the air. The music they had on was great, the lighting was even and nice on the eyes, the restaurant was kept clean and the tables, booth cushions, and table hardware all appeared to be in great condition, and they have funky setup with the sauce and dessert bars. The serving robot was also very neat. We waited an extra 15 minutes for our table, but they apologized and gave us snacks. The dining experience itself was a thrill and something to be remembered because of how curated the preparation, service, and offerings were. We were taken care of by our server named Tracy from start to finish, and sharp details to enhance comfort were account for such as the provision of hair elastics, an apron, cleaning hand wipes and a box of tissues for the table.. I was thoroughly impressed but above all excited and pleased by the simultaneous sophistication and ease in the way we were served over the course of the evening. The vegetables and meats were beautiful in presentation and of very high quality. The edammames and oranges at the sauce bar were fresh and thoughtfully prepared as well. We were pleased with everything we'd ordered, and enjoyed the broths- tomato on one side, and the Thai tom yum on the other. Both were richly satisfying and we were delighted to find a few shrimps and things inside them. With regards to dessert, the selection was extensive (different types of Boba, cool jellies, toppings, coconut milk and sugar syrups). Onto the entertainment, we'd experienced two things that night that were surprising and that had induced in all of us a bewildered excitement. The first was the fresh noodle pulling routine ; a man dressed in white came out with a music speaker and performed a routine where he flinged and stretched the dough in ways that were both hypnotic and sometimes startling (snapping it across the table, spinning it in waves directly at you, etc.). He was very skillful and it made for a unique experience. The other entertainment was the dance of a performer dressed in a traditional costume of some sort. The music, which took over the restaurant, and their movements totally elevated the atmosphere. Haidilao is its own universe containing within itself an energy and dynamic I feel is unique to *it*, especially in Markham/Toronto. Now that I know of this restaurant, if I feel compelled to experience that energy again I'll make another visit with some friends or family. Again, the entire experience from start to finish was so graciously curated and I appreciated the efficiency of our server Tracy, along with the cleanliness of the restaurant. At the end of our visit, I'd told my family that I felt as though from the moment we checked in with the hostess, our experience over the course of the evening had encountered a series of surprises at every corner.

Visited this location on a late night dinner on Saturday at 11pm. I made reservations for six people online and it was a pleasure receiving text message updates and reminders about the reservation. I booked the online reservations about 3 days before the day, so having the reminder messages was great! And the automated message asked me to confirm or to cancel the reservation. Upon arriving to the restaurant I was greeted immediately and advised I was there 6 guest reservation at 11pm. We had to wait a few minutes for the table to be cleared, but we did arrive about 16 mins early so it was fine. We hung out at the waiting area and they had some tortilla chips, grapes, prune juice, orange juice and brown sugar water available for consumption. The a Self serve waiting area was a bit dirty and not too well maintained. I only consumed the orange juice. While waiting for our table to be ready, the hostess provided me with the tablet device and advised we can start placing our order so when we got to our table we can save time. This was a nice gesture and we took a glance but didn’t order anything at the time. Shortly after we were brought to our table, the hostess asked if this was our first time at Haidilao, and explained that due to the late dining time they were in the process of closing down one of their three self serve sauce, dessert, snack, fruits area. They also advised on where the washroom location was. The washroom was nicely marked with navigation aids being projected onto the floor, so this was great for those who may get lost in the busy restaurant which I found was a nice touch. We were provided with special bowls prepped with small meats and finely chopped celery and the server used our tomato soup base and served us soup to drink at the beginning of our meal. We then began to order a wide assortment of meats, vegetables, dumplings, noodles for the hot pot dining. Our orders arrived very fresh, and arrived via robots and brought down to our table by our server. The service provided by our server was exceptional. One of my guests spilled some soup on the table when the server wasn’t around, and wiped up most of the mess, but the next time our server came to our table she noticed some residual liquids from the spill and promptly cleaned it up. Throughout our evening, our glasses of water were constantly being refilled, our soup bases on our hot pots refilled, and all empty food dishes were promptly and when I say promptly it was very promptly removed from our table. We indulged in some fun and games and tried some of the secret codes like we are all kids, I like your soup base, I like your snacks, I’m a fairy, and said it’s my birthday. And we’re provided with free soup bases, toys, snacks and a fun and positive birthday celebration with free cupcake! At the end of the evening, our party was throughly impressed with our late night dining and thanked our server both verbally and thru a handsome and generous tip. Thank you so much for the delightful evening!

I often saw many interesting posts on social media about Haidilao, so when I was looking for something special to celebrate my elderly mom becoming a Canadian Citizen, I figured it's a good time for us to try Haidilao. I made a reservation via WeChat (for a Thursday at 6:30pm). We arrived 10 mins before and we were seated immediately. We could feel their passion for service from the start. As soon as we sat down, they brought us some fruits and gave us aprons, wet wipes and hair ties. Then about a minute later they brought my mom a green bean soup for appetizer, and a cushion for her to sit comfortably. That's really impressive because I rarely found restaurants that care enough to train their staff to look out for elderlies. Before seating I booked a free manicure session with the front staff and luckily there's an open slot at 6:40pm. Actually I've never had a manicure so I didn't know what to expect. Zoe was so nice. She had no nonsense and just focused on her job. She's very careful so I didn't once feel any pain or discomfort. Zoe gave me a pleasant experience that now sparked my interest in nail care, lol. FYI, my free manicure session took about 30 mins. It was our first visit to Haidilao so we only ordered the basics to test the water. Ordering via the tablet was a breeze. The menu is easy to read and navigate. I loved the tomato soup base and especially the awfully cute fish roe pouches (next time I need to order two portions!!). My mom loved the sauce/side dish/dessert bar. It has everything you need and more. They also offered us ice-cream before we left. We were too full and still had some fruits left on our plates but they kindly packed it up for us to take home. I like how no food were wasted. I found all the staff there were equally helpful, especially Ryan and Jean who served our table. Our drinks always got refilled in time and our soups were always full. Though it's not our birthday, I still shamelessly asked if my mom could get a little gift for celebrating her special day. No question asked, after a few minutes Jean came back with a gift bag with Haidilao special edition chopsticks and some snacks. My mom was thrilled. The restaurant was so full of life. We had fun watching noodle tossing acts and face morphing performances. We've seen the classic Haidilao birthday celebration at least 4 times when we're there. Everyone was relaxed and in a good mood. I now know why people always say Haidilao is a good place for any kind of celebration. It was only our first time eating at Haidilao, and there's still so many dishes and services yet to be tried. I'm pretty sure we'll be back for more.

1. Social Distancing / COVID-19 Control They do a great job on ensuring customers’ safety. When you enter the restaurant, the receptionist will test your temperature. This makes sure that you do not have any symptoms at the time. Inside the restaurant, they separate the tables, so there will not be people sitting next to you closely. I’ve been to different restaurants during this special period and this is the only restaurant doing the temperature test. I felt very safe eating there. 2. Perfect Services Though this is the first Haidilao opened in Toronto, the services are as great as in China. The staff were well trained, friendly, and sweet. They respect every customer. They welcomed us warmly when we were still in the parking lot and just stepped out of the car. Wow, that’s very impressive! There is also a Chinese transitional opera show that you can watch while eating, though I barely saw it as I sat far from where the artist performed. I also saw the staff celebrating birthday for a customer. They even consider all the details in washroom. It makes you feel cozy and relaxed even in washroom. 3. Great Food Quality The food quality here in Toronto is as good as in China (honestly, I think it’s better here than in China). The soup was tasty, and the noodle show was interesting. The price is reasonable (on average $55 per person) for the food quality and services. To sum up, my friend said he is only willing to give tips to such services in such great restaurant. They deserve it. I like it too, I think I’ll come around often. ———————— Added: So I went for second time yesterday and I felt their customer service/experience dropped after 1 month of opening. We made an appointment and they let us in but I can tell that they didn’t find the appointment record. I thought it’s just an odd thing. However, I recommended my friend to Haidilao and they booked the reservation in advance. Today they went there and Haidilao lost the record of reservation again so my friends had to leave and found somewhere else to eat. This sucks, especially when customers did recommendation to their friends. And I can tell that one waitress now was overwhelmed- she served 5 tables at the same time and was kept too busy. I was waiting for about 15 minutes to get the bill paid. Additional, I caught a hair in one food. I told the waitress but I don’t think she showed enough attention. Hope Haidilao could do more to ensure their service and food quality. This change after just opening for 1 month is bad.

My recent visit to Haidilao Hot Pot in Markham was an absolute delight. It was a casual outing with a few buddies, and we decided that hot pot was the perfect choice for a relaxed evening of conversation and delicious bites. From start to finish, our experience was memorable. The ordering process was straightforward, which was a relief since it was our first time at this establishment. We decided to be adventurous and opted for four different soup bases: the classic spicy, pork bone, pork tripe chicken, and spicy cream milk. Each of these bases brought a unique flavor profile to our meal, making the dining experience all the more exciting. The star of the show was undoubtedly the signature marinated beef. It was incredibly tender and practically melted in our mouths. This dish alone left us craving for more. The signature hand-tossed lo mein was equally impressive, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality and taste. We also ordered shrimp paste and a seafood platter to complement our meal. Initially, my buddies and I hesitated because we're not big fans of peeling shrimp. To our pleasant surprise, the attentive staff at Haidilao noticed our predicament and kindly offered to peel the shrimp for us. It's these little gestures that truly make a dining experience memorable and enjoyable. To quench our thirst, we tried the plum juice, which was a refreshing choice and paired wonderfully with the rich flavors of the hot pot. Speaking of the staff, their service was impeccable. They were not only efficient but also incredibly attentive to our needs. They made sure our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable from start to finish. In summary, Haidilao Hot Pot in Markham provided an exceptional dining experience. The variety of soup bases and the standout marinated beef made for a memorable meal. The staff's attentiveness and willingness to go the extra mile, like peeling shrimp, added a personal touch that we greatly appreciated. Whether you're a hot pot aficionado or trying it for the first time, Haidilao is a top-notch choice for a delicious and enjoyable meal with friends or family.

Okay, we had no idea the hot pot we were about to experience at Haidilao. This was a Saturday evening and reservations are highly recommended. At first glance, this location looked pretty big and it was already packed (I was told the Scarborough location is even larger!). Now I'll talk about the service and I was shocked. Our server (Sunny) asked for our jackets and kindly packed them away in drawers built into our seating/table area. We then received black Haidilao aprons to protect our fashion fits from the delicious broth splashes. Aprons? I can dig it! Next up, time to order your food on the iPad. You are charged for everything you order, from meats, seafood, vegetables and beverages. We decided on 4 different broths (Pork bone, tomato, tom yum and mushroom) because we were a party of 7. You are provided all necessary kitchenware to cook your food. Next, make your own dipping sauces! Haidilao provides all the ingredients in order for you to make your own dipping sauce. If you're unsure what to make, a couple recipes are printed for you to reference. So, apparently if you order noodles, you get a personalized noodle show where a staff member takes fresh noodle dough and does a dance (reminiscent of a light show at a rave). Performances don't stop there folks! Suddenly, a cultural dancer appeared (face changing) and I suddenly forgot about eating. Once your bellies are full, a choice of ice cream to cleanse the palate. What a night! We'll definitely be back but will try their Scarborough location. SECRET HACKS - Do your research for some freebies from Haidilao!
