This place was just okkkk. I came here on a Sunday afternoon at 12pm and it was absolutely empty. At first when we walked in, it looked like a cute little spot for brunch but it ended up being just an average experience. Atmosphere was not so great, they have floor to ceiling windows but they are all covered by the large window advertisements which blocks out the sun. There is also no AC in this restaurant, so if you come in on a warm day, be prepared to sit in the heat ( it pretty much feels like you're in India ) We read online that they take a while to prepare food, and after browsing the menu, it was written that the reason they take so long is because they use fresh ingredients.
We ordered the Paani Puri, Samosa Chaat & Tikki Chaat to start. Paani Puri - the paani was really tasty and they increased the amount of puris they give you from 6 to 8 now.
Samosa Chaat - just ok, the picture on the menu shows it comes with dahi & chutneys but it actually came with chana
Tikki Chaat - This one was pretty tasty, it was two large aloo tikies with a side of chana.
For Mains we ordered:
Mixed Amritsari Kulcha - this was really tasty! it was well stuffed and came with a dry aloo subji which we requested ( originally comes with chana )
Aloo Amritsari Kulcha - this was well stuffed and was a good portion. It also came with chana
Channa Bhatura - The Channa was just ok and the Bhatura was not good at all. it was dry, tasteless and overall just a bad situation
Almost all the dishes came with Gajar ka Achar ( pickled carrot ) but there was no achar flavour on them, they were simply flimsy carrots with no taste. Lastly, the onions served on the side were covered in imli ki chutney sauce ( sweet tamarind sauce ) which is something I've never seen before. It was not a great combo
The Mango Lassi was also pretty tasty.
Overall the food was just ok, service was friendly but very slow and the atmosphere was not the greatest. Doubtful I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery mediocre food: Two days ago, we ordered Home 3 meals based on the Google reviews, with diff choices of gravy (almost $20 each). I liked the Phulka Rotis, they were okay (hot with little ghee, and not chewy), compared to other items in the menu. The size was good & thickness was right. All the gravies were of low quality- no taste, not rich enough. The Aloo Gobi was overcooked, the Matar paneer was poor, the Kadi was better among other gravies, Aloo palak came as a gravy (we were expecting a dry, as it was not mentioned in the menu). The basmati rice Qty was okay, but was little undercooked in the name of Al dente. Salad was just few onion pieces & packed along with the pickles in same container. Looks like, the restaurant wants us to eat the salad that way. People hardly eat salads, it is just a count on the menu, waste of ingrdient and money for both, dont know why they give it. I ordered the meals specifically for the sweet-- Disappointingly they sent Ladoos, instead Gulab Jamun that was mentioned on the menu. They were old, dry & smelling, I just trashed them. Overall, the food was very ordinary. Folks, not worth eating here, or even to try. Adjacent to this place in the opposite commercial complex is Rajdhani restaurant, where I have been eating for 4 years now, had food at least a 100 times. Every single time, the food has been consistent in-- recipe, taste, quality, service, price, not a single complaint till date. Sadly not impressed,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were in the neighborhood. Craving North Indian street side food and decided to check this place out. It's a small eatery in a big plaza located alongside a couple of other eateries including bamiyan kebab.
Its a tiny location crammed with 8-10 tables and a lot of chairs. So not much room between the tables but thankfully it wasn't crowded. Where it lacks in ambience it made up in the taste department.
You get excellent Delhi style Chole bhature here. The samosa chat was good too but the Chole bhature stole the show. It took 15-20 mins for the order to arrive despite not being busy. I would assume they prepare a lot of the items fresh. The chaat mint chutney in the chaat clearly had a lot of artificial color, something I am not very fond of, so please be aware.
Service was fine, similar to a lot of other Desi places - no smiles or greetings - but just about enough to get the transaction done. You order at the counter and pick up your order when it's ready. You take back the food to your table and dig in. They don't accept credit cards. Just cash and debit cards. Reasonable pricing...
