I took my husband and son here for their birthday celebration and was very disappointed. The food was good but the experience was marred by the very poor service.
The restaurant was not full when we got there but we waited for approx 10 minutes before someone came to take our order.
The appetizer came quickly so we thought all would now be fine with our meal, unfortunately that was not the case. We were a family of three my order was fine, my son's order was incorrect but was quickly changed no problem which we appreciated but then nothing was delivered for my husband.
We thought his order was taking longer as he had ordered the lamb; neither the server nor anyone else came to check if all was well or advise what was taking so long with his meal; after about half an hour when my son and I were almost done eating with nothing still delivered for my husband and several other people now ordered and served, I hailed another server clearing a table to ask her to enquire about my husband's meal.
She returned after 5 minutes to ask what he had ordered and left again after an additional 5 minutes the original server returned to ask again what my husband had ordered and advised he had not heard it so it was never ordered!! I advised him my husband was the first to order then my son and last was my order it was three of us so why would only two order his response was he repeated the order when he took it an we did not say anything?
Needless to say regardless of the food the experience was marred and what should have been a celebration left us with a bad taste at the end of the experience.
I should mention we were given a small box of sweets as compensation but it would have been nice to have an apology or even a visit from the manager apologizing the poor service and give us a reason to return but we guess our business is not welcome
After reviewing our treatment it has left us wondering if race played a part in our treatment, we were only one of two African Canadian families there and observing how the other patrons were treated has definitely given us food...
Read moreI grabbed takeout and didn't actually enter the building so I cannot comment on service or interior at all. The prices in the store are a lot higher than some of the prices you can find of the menus floating around online. They do offer quite a bit of variety of food, which is good.
I ordered the falafel plate which I assumed would come with a side of rice or salad but sadly enough, there was just a pita with my 6 (rather large and very tasty) falafel balls, and some pickled veggies, and some rather limp looking lettuce shreds with a HALF slice of tomato. Could not even pass that off as a salad. There was also some "garlic sauce" in which I could neither see nor taste garlic. I'm a HUGE fan of garlic sauce and generally ask for extra but this was just a runny white sauce that actually made the falafel taste bitter for some reason. They also did not give and hummus or hot sauce. No hummus?! Seriously? There was barely enough garlic sauce for the plate itself, so the missing hummus was very disappointing. I had to add my own hummus and hot sauce from home. Good thing I didn't eat there.
Even though everything was pretty disappointing, I have to say the size of the falafel balls were on the larger size and were tasty. They were very dry though, hence the lack of sauce disappointment. The pita was actually very large and soft as well.
The chicken shawarma plate was much more disappointing looking than my falafel plate. I didn't eat any of it so I'm not sure how it tasted but there were just 2 small pieces of chicken, the same pita, pickled veggies, and "garlic sauce." All for the great price of $15.
All of these things considered, I would not order this plate again, considering it was barely proportional and had so much left over falafel with nothing to eat it with. I would maybe go back just to order some falafel and make my own wrap at home. Save yourself some money and go to another great place in this area for less with more food and great quality. Bamiyan is not the same type of food but I would much rather prefer it...
Read morePoor quality and service, overpriced, and small portions sum it all up. Wife and I visited this location to celebrate our anniversary. From our past experience at other locations (Scarborough, Toronto, Mississauga) we were hoping for good food and service. We went to this Markham location around 6:30 PM on Saturday, it was quiet busy but they seated us right away, we didn’t have any reservations. Within few minutes a young lady came over to take our order, she had a strong body odor (probably due to sweating as it was bit hot and overcrowded that day). We placed our order and patiently waited for our food. I took a while before we got our food and when it arrived it was cold. Some items arrived much later; we had to sit there waiting for other items to arrive as we were done with what was on our table. The waiter kept asking us if they can take away our plates and cutlery but we were not done eating so had to keep reminding them that we are waiting on food. There were four us including our kids, my daughter was sitting in my wife’s lap so the server kept asking us if we needed four chairs, she didn’t stop until we gave up our chair. At this point we just wanted to get out of there. We asked for the bill which they brought to us 10 minutes later and we waited for another 20 minutes for someone to come to so we can pay. At that point, I just walked up to the main counter and paid the bill. I spoke to the General Manager Khalid about this experience, he was sorry about the poor service and cold food. He took my contact information and assured me that he will follow through and contact me. It been 15 days and I haven’t heard anything from him or anyone else at the Paramount. Will not to going to this location in future to waste my money. A word of advice, stay away from...
