We love coming here❤️❤️❤️ From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm smiles and incredible service 🥰. The staff here are amazing so attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the entire meal. They even took the time to explain the menu and how to cook the meats perfectly on the grill, which made the experience even more enjoyable!!! The food is the HIGHLIGHT!!!😋. The quality of the meats is top-notch. We tried a variety of options, including the pork belly, beef short ribs, and each one was absolutely delicious. The flavors were incredible, and the meats were so tender and juicy, it was like a little taste of heaven in every bite. But what really blew me away were the side dishes 🐷. I’ve been to quite a few Korean BBQ spots, but the banchan at Piggies Island are hands down the best I’ve ever had in Toronto. Every single side dish was bursting with flavor and complemented the BBQ perfectly. This is a MUST visit if you’re in Toronto and craving some amazing Korean BBQ. The combination of outstanding service, high-quality meats, and the best side dishes in the city makes this place truly special 🥰. I can’t wait to come back and enjoy another fantastic meal here. If you’re looking for a place that delivers on all fronts food, service, and atmosphere Piggies Island is the spot 😋🐷!

PLEASE TRUST THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS HERE! THEY ARE TRUE! I checked out the menu of Piggy's Island on Google reviews and saw that they offer Korean charcoal BBQ, and they have a very high rating. So, I booked a table with high hopes to celebrate a friend's birthday. Unfortunately, the meal turned out to be quite disappointing. First Issue: When we arrived at the restaurant, I told a young male staff that we had brought a birthday cake and asked if they could keep it for us. He said yes and placed the cake on the cashier counter. He then seated us, but we noticed he didn't put the cake in the fridge. It was only after we asked another staff to store the cake in the fridge that they finally did so. Otherwise, I believe they would have left it on the counter until we asked for the cake later. Second Issue: We chose this restaurant specifically because we saw on one page of the menu that they offer charcoal BBQ. The menu had a big heading that said "100% Korean Charcoal BBQ," so we assumed all the items listed under that section would be charcoal-grilled. There was another page with a combo set that was clearly marked as non-charcoal, so we didn’t order from that because we wanted to try the charcoal BBQ. However, when the food came, it wasn’t served with a charcoal grill. We asked a staff member why it wasn’t charcoal. The older staff immediately blamed us for not specifying that we wanted charcoal BBQ. I explained that we had ordered from the section labeled "100% Charcoal Korean BBQ," but she told us that not all dishes under that section are charcoal BBQ, only the ones within the white box. So I told her that the menu is very confusing, and if not all dishes were charcoal BBQ, they shouldn’t use the heading "100% Charcoal Korean BBQ." To my surprise, instead of addressing the issue, she rudely snatched the menu from me and said, "No one has ever been confused by this, only you." She repeated this statement at least three times during our conversation. Furthermore, she said that this menu was NEWLY released, having been out for ONLY two weeks. Okay, come on!!! so it’s normal that no one had brought this issue up before, but problem really happened now. Now that a customer is giving you constructive feedback about the menu, not only do you refuse to listen, but you insist that the customer is at fault for not asking. As a staff member who knows the menu well, if there are two BBQ options, why didn’t you ask which one we wanted instead of blaming a customer? If a customer is kindly offering feedback, you should listen instead of stubbornly defending a mistake. Third Issue: I don’t believe the positive Google reviews about this restaurant are genuine. I noticed that the restaurant offers incentives in exchange for positive reviews. Throughout the meal, I was upset, yet that same senior staff member kept coming over and approaching me to chat with a complete 180 change in attitude. At one point, she asked how we found the charcoal BBQ set, and honestly, it wasn’t that great. Yet she still asked me to leave a positive review for that set. How do you have the audacity to ask a customer you’ve offended to write a good review? It seems like they were afraid I would leave a negative one. I rarely leave negative reviews for restaurants unless the experience was truly bad. I still ended up tipping, even though this kind of service doesn’t deserve 1%. But I tipped anyway. I'm writing this review not because I want an apology. Even if you apologize, I won’t accept it. I just want to remind the owner that you need to fix the misleading menu. Most importantly, you should train and educate your impolite staff. Their behavior directly affects customers’ impressions of your business. "Fake Google reviews won’t cover up these problems."

Here is a 5-star Google review for Piggy's Island Korean BBQ restaurant: "Piggy's Island is hands down the best Korean BBQ restaurant I've ever been to! From the moment I walked in, the lively and welcoming atmosphere made me excited to try their food. The service was outstanding - the servers were attentive and efficient, constantly refilling our small plates and making sure we had everything we needed. The menu has a great variety of marinated meats, vegetables, and sides to grill right at your table. I tried the bulgogi beef, spicy pork, and kimchi fried rice, and every bite was bursting with bold, authentic Korean flavors. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the banchan (Korean side dishes) were the perfect complements. The tabletop grills made for such a fun, interactive dining experience. I loved being able to watch the meat sizzle and char to perfection right in front of me. The overall vibe of the restaurant was lively and energetic, with great K-pop music playing in the background. Piggy's Island is the real deal when it comes to Korean BBQ. The quality of the food, the fantastic service, and the overall dining atmosphere make this place a must-visit. I'll definitely be back again and again. Hands down 5 stars!"

Was looking forward to going back as we have been to Piggy’s a bunch of times before. The place has an upgraded interior with an island theme. Not exactly sure why but still seems kind of fun. There is a projector on one side that I think is a live feed but not sure? We had a group of 11 and needed two tables to sit in. The chairs open up at the bottom to put your jackets and other items which is kind of nice. The grills were stainless steel flat top with propane. We got a bunch of pork belly and strip loin. The kimchi fried rice was decent. The egg soufflé was good and ended up ordering another one for the kids. (forgot to take a picture boo-me 👻). The sides were good with some pickled jalapeños, kimchi, fishcakes, sesame seed, dressing, salad, broccoli with gojujang (not sure if that’s spelled correctly). Service was decent. They only give you a small portion of lettuce each time so we had to order frequently. The waiter proactively got us another portion only after we finished all of our meat. 😅 I’m curious to try their lunch price fixe. Plus oxtail bone soup (which could be an upgrade to pork on soup)? We’ll try some of the other non-barbecue things next time. I need to get better at taking menu pictures 😅

I wanted to love it but it was not a good experience. I never have bad experiences with Korean bbq but this was more expensive than the average spots; with poorer quality meats. We ordered the short rib and the garlic beef. The short rib was not bad but the garlic beef was chewy and fatty. Aesthetically the place has a really cute vibe but it’s not functional for an Indoor bbq place because the ventilation was bad. I had to move spots because my eyes were watering. Service was not bad but a little slow and barely came to clean table throughout the duration the meal. The grill had to be changed multiple times and the meat kept sticking to the grill because it was not greased. Most places give a piece of fat to ensure the meat doesn’t stick. Also while we visited one of the staff was mopping the floors and didn’t even put a wet sign. We witnessed a lady slipping and hitting the ground so hard we were in shock; I had to tell them to put a wet floor sign on the floor which they did. This place has potential. Please adjust the meat quality to the pricing and also really look into a better ventilation system.

We were a group of 7 adults, 6 of us been here in the past. Unfortunately none of us would return to this renovated establishment. The service was horrible.. pretty much had to walk up to their counter even if we wanted water. Order took forever.. ———- their response to this bad customer service was to sit closer to the front LOL ridiculous 😂————— The dumplings were all cold inside.. I guess the kids like the cold dumplings.. but not the adults. lol The sauces were all way too salty. The $18 soups were like kids size.. like the size that they used to give us for free when we’re drinking soju. Just look at the picture, the soup was smaller than my hand. Every time we wanted water for our table, we would have to walk to the service counter. ———- in their response to my bad review regarding the service, they replied advising me to sitting closer to the staff LOL ———— Even when we wanted to pay for the bill, they said we have to pay at the front. Food didn’t taste good either. Only 1 of us felt like the food was ok.
