As a devoted food writer, I had the distinct pleasure of hosting a dinner party at "Shater Abbas شاطر عباس" to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday, surrounded by the company of five close friends. It was an evening that left an indelible mark on our palates and hearts. "Shater Abbas" stands as a true ambassador of authentic Persian cuisine within the Greater Toronto Area. The journey of this culinary haven began in 2011 at 8141 Yonge St., Thornhill, where it established its roots as a family-owned restaurant. Since its inception, "Shater Abbas" has become a beacon for discerning food enthusiasts, enticing them with a delectable array of wholesome Persian dishes. The undeniable highlight of our dining experience was the renowned Kabab Kobideh "کباب کوبیده." A culinary masterpiece that earned its place as the best in town, the Kabab Kobideh captivated our senses with its tender, expertly grilled meat that was seasoned to perfection. Each succulent bite was a testament to the mastery of flavors that "Shater Abbas" has come to represent. Beyond the Kabab Kobideh, the extensive menu offered a rich tapestry of Persian delights. From the flavorful Ghormeh Sabzi and Gheimeh stews to the exquisite Fesenjoon, "Shater Abbas" transported us to the heart of Persian gastronomy. The experience was further elevated by the tantalizing offerings of Koobideh, Barg, and Torsh Kebab, each exemplifying the restaurant's dedication to authenticity and quality. It is evident that "Shater Abbas" is not content with merely offering exceptional cuisine; it aims to share its passion for good food and promote healthy and flavorful meals. This dedication led to the establishment of "Shater Abbas Express" in 2015, located at 804 Shepherd Ave. East, Toronto. The commitment to excellence extends to inviting feedback and suggestions from patrons, a testament to their continuous pursuit of culinary perfection. With an unwavering dedication to presenting Persian cuisine at its finest, "Shater Abbas" continues to grow and thrive. The opening of new locations and the addition of new items to their menus are a testament to their ongoing success and commitment to culinary innovation. In conclusion, "Shater Abbas شاطر عباس" is a culinary gem that encapsulates the essence of authentic Persian flavors and traditions. Our dining experience was a symphony of tastes, a celebration of community, and a testament to the love and passion that "Shater Abbas" pours into every dish. To all who appreciate the artistry of Persian cuisine, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this culinary haven, and I eagerly anticipate witnessing the continued growth and success of this remarkable establishment.

Outdoor restaurant seating under a canopy - Shater Abbas- Persian cuisine. This would be my second visit to this restaurant. Did not get a chance to write a review the first time. So I am back for seconds. Menu offer traditional dishes, soup/aash, kebabs, appetizer and hot / cold dishes and many more selection like grilled lamb, fish and much more. If you are craving for the best tasting kebabs and koobideh - I suggest to try this place, and experience their char-grilled marinated bones less chicken leg and ground beef koobideh serve with basmati saffron rice with grilled tomato on the side, you can pair it with homemade Persian yogurt chilled, fizzy and savoury based drink a pitcher or a glass will do to complete your Persian dining experience. Come by and visit this place bring your family and friends and enjoy some good traditional Persian cuisine! Merci, Shater Abbas; will come back for more - it’s a beautiful day in Thornhill after all ❤️

This place used to my favorite spot for Iranian food. Today however, I was disappointed by the quality of thw food we received. First thing we noticed was the bread, they used to bake their own bread and you would get one complete loaf of freshly baked bread cooked right there but what we got this time was 3 small peices of.low quality convenience store type bread that was microwaved and when we asked the waiter about it, he said the baker would make them in the morning and they warm it up (which was a lie as the peices were too clean cut for that type of bread and the taste was absolutely different. I left the pictures in photo section). The chikech kabob was still good and kept the quality but the koobideh had nothing to do with the old Shater Abbas koobideh. The only nice addition to the dish was a small peices of Tahchin rice (it was not tahdige just the rice). The staff were very polite although wish they wouldn't have lied to me about the bread. Looks like now that the actual owner is not in the store managing the staff, the quality has been declining drastically. In general, it was very sad to see such high quality restaurant loosing the quality and getting negative reviews these days...

Update: Feb 12,2024 Again, we got screwed by shatter abbas. We placed our order over the phone and we were told 25 mins. When we got there, then again they made us wait for almost an hour, while they were prioritizing a big group who came in with mo reservation. Very Very disappointed . Again!!! We were left hungry! and we just decided to leave with no food. take your money somewhere else ------------------ I used to like this restaurant specially the platter 1. But for the past few months, the quality has changed big time the koobideh are so thin and very pale and so as the juje. They always forget putting the bread under the meat despite the fact that it has been requested. The meat are dry too. No more small cabbage sides and SUPER OVERPRICED for the portion served. They cut on all corners. Very sad to see this restaurant’s quality go down BIG TIME. NOT WORTH IT FOR THE PRICE. RIP OFF. We will bring our business somewhere else.

This is our second time here and it’s always a very nice to come to for Persian food. Customer service is very nice and pleasant. Food was fantastic and fresh! Loved that they served us lentil soup as soon as we got our self comfortable at the table. We ordered the eggplant dish with mint as an appetizer and it was very strong for me with the mint and garlic sauce 😔 If you like the taste of mint and garlic with eggplant then this is the appetizer to order when you come here. The next time we come here we will try the Tomatoe based eggplant appetizer dish We ordered two dishes and they were the mixed plate with ground chicken and ground beef and the other plate was the Torsch plate and they were absolutely delicious!! The portions were very generous. And if you come on the weekend they don’t serve tea for some reason How does a Persian not serve tea? Would recommend coming here if you are looking for delicious Persian food

We recently visited the Shatter Abbas in Thornhill, Despite the peak hours, the attendant efficiently secured a table for us, making our wait comfortable. Our journey began with the Chicken Barley Soup – each barley pearl was a burst of flavor, with that slight sour twist that took it to another level. For the main course, we opted for Platter a combination of 9 skewers featuring beef tenderloin, chicken leg, chicken breast, shishlik (lamb rack), and five skewers of ground beef. Served with saffron basmati rice and the local Persian yogurt drink 'dough,' buttermilk. every dish was cooked to perfection, but the real star was the shishlik (lamb chops) not too dry, not too chewy, just juicy goodness. We loved it so much that we ordered an extra plate! Looking forward to another visit in the future. Highly recommended for a delightful Persian culinary experience!
