This is one of my first Google reviews - I usually don't write reviews, but felt compelled to write this one due to the poor dining experience. I was at Simply Delicious last night to to celebrate a birthday and it was my first time coming here. Sad to say, I was disappointed. I found out that they were booked for a private event, which we weren't notified about when we confirmed our reservation the day before. The entire place was filled with guests attending this private event except us. I found it a bit awkward for our group as they were having speeches and prayers at one point, so I felt the need to whisper my conversations and/or stay quiet as everyone else in the restaurant was silent.
As for the food, it wasn't ready by the time all of us arrived at the reservation time (6:30pm) and we were told to wait 5 minutes. We waited 15 minutes and they had topped up on only 2 to 3 of the buffet trays by that point, so we just started getting food. Most of the buffet trays were half-full/half-empty, which is fine as long as there was enough food for everyone to get, but you could tell that they were dedicating their time in the kitchen to preparing the food for the private event guests and not so much on the buffet that we were getting our food from.
As for the food...I'm no expert when it comes to Indian food, but I can tell that the food wasn't fresh. It's safe to say that the food being served were leftovers from the lunch buffet. The fish was dry as if it had been there for hours. There was a random samosa in the fish tray, even though there weren't any other samosas being served at the buffet. Parts of the biryani were rock hard. The food selection was limited - was really looking forward to having samosas and channa, but they didn't have any. That being said, the food they brought out for the private event looked much nicer - food looked fresh and the trays were completely full.
Near the end of our dinner, they started clearing the buffet trays to make room for the food for the private event guests. Before clearing them, the employees didn't give us any warning or even a "last call" to give us a chance to pick up more food. Whatever, so I let that go and moved onto dessert. The dessert was mediocre at best. They provided us with a gigantic spoon since their ice cream scooper broke. And it broke with good reason - the ice cream was rock hard! It was difficult to scoop with the spoon, so everyone who wanted ice cream got a good bicep workout out of it. They had pineapple and watermelon for fruit. I took a few pieces of the watermelon, but you could tell that wasn't fresh either. It was soggy/mushy (for lack of a better word). :(
Before I even sat down to eat my ice cream, the waitress brought us the bill. I later found out that we didn't even ask for the bill! It seemed like they were rushing to get us out. Overall, it was not a great experience and I will most likely never come again or recommend this place to friends or family unless it is for a large group event.
TL;dr: if you're coming for a large group private event, it's probably not bad. If you're coming in a smaller group dinner, make sure to ask whether there are any private events that are happening. Be prepared for lunch leftovers if you're...
