Update edit: went a couple times since my last review. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as my first and won't be returning. First time I came back, I ordered food for 6 and spent $100 and they only gave us the same amount of side dishes as when we ordered for only 2 people. Minor issue but the pork bone soup was extra salty that day. Second time I went by myself for lunch pickup and the pork bone soup that day was super super salty. I was incredibly thirsty after so I suspect they used way too much MSG. And the side dishes tasted almost sour (probably super old). Other recent reviews a lot of people said they got food poisoning so now I'm too scared to go. Such a shame as I only experienced it once before it started going downhill. :(
Original review: This place is incredible!!! My partner and I were looking for an authentic Korean restaurant to satisfy our spice craving and decided to try this place out. There was ample parking when we went at night on a weekday. My partner got the spicy pork stirfry and I got the pork bone soup. Both these dishes were savory, perfect kick of spice, seasoned perfectly and made promptly (we waited 5-10 mins for our food). They gave us 4 side dishes (kimchi, noodles, fish cake, and potato salad) and the portion for each were huge! The food was so tasty that we were both just eating in silence, enjoying the flavors as our mouths had never touched such delicious LOCAL korean food. Will definetly go back again...
Read moreI recently ordered from Sung Won Korean Restaurant through Uber Eats, and it's only fair to begin by saying the food was flavorful. Both the Spicy Seafood Tofu Soup and Beef Soup were enjoyable.
However, my dining experience took a turn for the worse later that night. Unfortunately, I experienced severe stomach discomfort and had to make multiple trips to the washroom. It's important to note, my wife, who shared the meal with me but didn't consume the Kimchi, did not exhibit any of these symptoms. I'm a big fan of Kimchi, so it was disappointing to deduce that this could have been the source of my discomfort.
The restaurant might need to consider reviewing their storage practices for their seasoned and fermented foods like Kimchi, which can easily spoil if not properly maintained, especially during the hot summer months. The health and wellbeing of customers should always be a top priority, and such incidents can be mitigated with strict quality control and food safety measures.
Despite my unfortunate experience, I believe in giving businesses a chance to improve. Therefore, I would suggest the owner take note of this incident, so that customers can continue to enjoy their delicious meals...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews, but my experience with this restaurant today was beyond frustrating. I placed an order through DoorDash, and what should have been a simple meal turned into a complete nightmare.
First, the wait time was absolutely unacceptable. My order has been sitting in “being prepared” status for what feels like forever. When I checked with DoorDash, it became clear the delay was on the restaurant’s end—not the driver’s. If you don’t have enough staff to handle the volume, why keep accepting new orders? That’s basic management 101.
The lack of communication is also shocking. No updates, no courtesy message—nothing. Just endless waiting while my food is probably getting cold (if it’s even being made at all). For a restaurant that positions itself as a quality Korean spot, this is a huge letdown.
I understand things get busy, but being overwhelmed is no excuse for poor planning and false expectations. If you’re short-staffed, turn off orders or give customers a realistic timeframe instead of stringing them along. People pay for convenience, not chaos.
Bottom line: Don’t order from here if you’re hungry or value your time. This experience has completely turned me off from...
