LOCAL Public Eatery Medicine Hat — Restaurant in Medicine Hat

Let me start by saying this is not a one time event. I have been going to the local with my girlfriend at least once a week for the last year. I have also brought friends and family when they come from out of town because it is the only nice pub down town and 2 minutes from my house. I am not sure if people are scared to review this place because Medicine Hat is so small but after today I just had to say something as I am sick physically again from eating here. Some times the music is good some times it is bad some times it is way to loud with broken blown speakers. The food on the menu can be very good if prepared properly. Today specifically the salad my girlfriend ordered was brown the avocado was bad and brown and had bits of the outer avocado shell in the salad. The chips on top of the salad were stale. My burger very good but was either under cooked or they use very bad hygiene standards in the kitchen because I got very sick today. Other times we have been we tried to sit at the bar but there were too many small fly's so we had to move seats. We have never been greeted by anyone at the local over the last year that realized we had ever been there before the last year or even twice or 3 times that day. The management are very poor and have never greeted us or thanked us. The turn over with employees seem very high hence the inconsistent and untrained staff brings hit and miss service. Also the servers are rude and inattentive not once but consistently. The beer is warm and often they have served the wrong one and then argue that I don't know my beer. Wait time is unacceptable most times and I have to order my own beer from the bar after waiting more than 10-20 minutes. I don't know if I am spoiled because I have a brother who is a Michelin star chef in France or that I am cultured and have lived all over Canada and the world, but some things just need to be fixed and I hope the owner reads this and at least hires trained staff in the kitchen and front of house. or treats them better so they stick around. its not that hard to run a consistent quality restaurant which this should be based on price and atmosphere.

I think its time for a beer at the local! The patio is unbeatable down...

We came around 7. We were told to grab a seat wherever. We sat for 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us or brought us a menu. The two servers who greeted us at the door were standing at the front visiting with one another. Another waitress was visiting at another table with customers. Finally the waitress came to get our drink order. She was efficient but I wouldn't call her friendly. We would say "thank you" and she would say - nothing. Wouldn't even crack a little smile. Just walked away. The food was O.K. We were not given side plates and had to ask for them as we had ordered appetizers. We also never received any water. We noticed they drowned all of our food in A LOT of sauce. The hot honey chicken is in fact not hot honey. It was sitting in a pool of thai sweet chili sauce with more sweet chili sauce on top of the chicken. The shrimp dumplings were swimming in a type of soy sauce mix as well as drizzled in sauce, and the edamame.... Sooo saucy, more like a peanut sauce. I personally don't want a ton of sticky sauce on my edamame when I'm eating them with my fingers, they should be lightly seasoned, that's it. And the part that gets me every time at almost every restaurant, is when you get the bill and the server brings over the debit machine and suddenly is extremely interested in your life and what you're up to the rest of the night, where you're from, what you do for work, etc when during the entire dinner service they barely acknowledged your existence. I rate the overall experience 3 stars. The atmosphere is there, if they could chill out on drowning the food in sauces it would actually be really really good. And maybe a better system of not telling people to sit wherever they want and then leave them sitting there with nothing for ten minutes. And the friendliness, maybe she had a rough night or maybe it's just her. I don't know. I'll let it slide. But not sure...

We are disappointed in the service… me and my daughter went there waited about 15 minutes just to get menus it was not busy at all two tables on the patio just felt like the staff kept on overlooking us finally got menus and was told that this girl would not be our server but she would pass on our drink order on to the other waitress.. we waited about another 20 minutes for drinks as we watched Other tables be served their beverages and orders taken I was even watching the bar to see if they were making our drinks and witnessed the bartender and the waitress is making drinks but not for a table. We then decided to get up and leave after not receiving our drinks or anybody back at our table for over a half hour.. I was on a short time crunch for lunch break and just wanted to go out for a nice lunch with my daughter. My daughter than received a nasty message on social media by the waitress asking if we were coming back for our drinks my daughter replied by saying that we had waited and been in the restaurant for almost 40 minutes with no drinks and no service so we decided to get up and leave. To my surprise I received a phone call late last night from my daughter saying that somebody (a waiteess) physically grabbed her and threw her out of the establishment as they said that she did not pay for her drinks last time she was there however we did not even receive the drinks before we left… I am extremely disappointed and will be contacting management and possibly the police. She did not deserve to Be kicked out of the establishment especially physically for something that we did not even receive… the service was absolutely horrible that day and speaking from somebody in the service industry I was extremely...
