McDonald's — Restaurant in Medicine Hat

(Came back to this review after about a year and wanted to alter a few things and be a little more unbiased. I also added a bit at the end for people wanting to work here as a first job.)

So, I can't give any McD's a full 5-star rating, because it isn't the best out all your options for food. Let's be honest; You're hungry, you probably spent all your cash either in or outside of your bank account, it's late at night, most places are closing... You're gonna pick McD's because it's quick, cheap, and at the very least kinda edible depending on the location. HOWEVER, let me tell you, this is a location where the food is more than just edible. It's good. Like, actually. Between the four McDonald's locations in the Medicine Hat and Redcliff area, it's a very close call between the Dunmore Rd. and Redcliff Dr. locations as to who is the crowning champion of McDonald's.

To the contrary, let me also add a forewarning; This location is at its best between six in the morning and three in the afternoon. After that, the food quality just kinda seems to dip. Dunmore Rd. is at its best all day, but their breakfast content isn't as good as Redcliff Dr. and I find Redcliff Dr. is often cleaner than Dunmore Rd. Granted, Dunmore Rd. is typically busier and on top of that is considered the main store among the four. Watch for the noon peak hour, though, otherwise the wrong order at the wrong moment could see as high as a half-hour wait. Regardless, this is why I believe this to be the best McD's in town, but they're VERY neck-and-neck.

So! My recommendations! If you're ordering lunch, do yourself a favour and save as much money as possible, because ironically their best burgers are on the cheaper side. If you're ordering a Big Mac or larger, you've gone too far. For breakfast, anything's good. For chicken, the wraps (8" snack wraps OR 10" wraps) take the cake. Your best options at any time are probably McDoubles and Jr. Chickens. Other than that, the delicious McCain- I MEAN, McDonald's fries, but only if they are fresh. After they've sat for two minutes they're basically cardboard.

They do have a selection of grilled or crispy chicken, but the grilled may be a six minute wait, and after 10 or 11 PM they've basically been cleared out of grilled chicken by that point. Furthermore, it's safe to assume that after 11 PM you also can't get smoothies or specialty coffee beverages (mochas, lattes, etc.) because the machines go through a cleaning cycle at about that time.

So yeah, that concludes the overall idea of it! (END OF FOOD REVIEW).

Now, my review of this place also comes with some free extra knowledge DLC; If you are applying for work there and it's your first job, it may be better to look for it somewhere else. If you really want to get a head start in a working life, you could start here if you want a relentless challenge because they hold you to ridiculous and almost impossible standards given surrounding circumstances (standards which increase in overall difficulty as time goes on and doesn't stop). If it's anything like when I worked there, they will likely expect you to be able to work not as a team, and not along a list of tasks, but on your own, and getting everything you are ordered to done while also taking orders. Worst case scenario, they will even guilt-trip you or request that you stay for overtime if you happen to be a swing-shift worker. However, if nothing else, they teach discipline and they are at the very least flexible to your schedule. But honestly, you could get discipline, flexibility, and the relevant skills from other fast food places and even retail who demonstrate far more structure, give you more opportunities to grow and, should you wish it, grant you a better potential to move on from the industry. This particular Mcds has gained a reputation for many many mistakes with most, if not all orders placed here. We came to this Redcliff drive location as a special treat for our son's 8th birthday. Not only did they miss an item in our order totally, after repeating it more than once. Having the employee repeat it back. Well after we finally got our missing item, we sat down to eat, only to find my particular order was incorrect. My wife, my mother in law and I, all tried to speak with the assistant manager (who was far from friendly) I had wanted to speak with the manager, she was about 10 feet away listening to all this, and she would not speak to us. She acted as if we were unimportant, an annoyance and far from customer friendly. She would ignore us. Talk over us. And would only speak to the assistant manager. She did not want to resolve or help us in anyway. We have had issues with this particular Mcds location so so many time. We have had so very many friends and family that have been treated poorly and with order issues constantly. It was not a pleasant experience. All we wanted was the total order given to us as well as the right items. Yet the woman who was acting manager was not a nice person at all. We were foolish to think we could go there trouble free. We've learned our lesson and will follow the actions of friends and family and we will NOT...

I alwaaaaaaaaays order here. How many times they got my orders wrong (mostly missing drink lol) but I always give them a chance, considering this branch is really busy and I know that they're trying. (That's why I gave 2 stars instead of 1 star as well... again, they're trying.) I ordered today and I think my order was replaced with someone else's. I ordered nuggets, fries and a drink. I only received 1 Mcflurry. I called their number and explained the situation, the person I spoke with... don't care. He said they can't do anything and I was told about how the process of refund works BUT never really address the mistake and he was not sorry. I really don't want him to say sorry to me but at least don't sound like you don't want to deal with a customer lol. That's the last thing I wanna hear. I am just too tired and hungry as I waited for almost an hour. I don't need the refund, the conversation made me more upset. Please do not ever do that again to another...
