Thai Orchid Room — Restaurant in Medicine Hat

Wow what a difference a year makes my original review is below and was 5 *. So you can imagine when we found ourselves in Medicine Hat again we made our way to the Thai Orchid Room.

Before we ordered I overheard one of the other servers explaining to another table that they had ran out Jasmine Rice, so when or server came to take our order and starting to tell us that the disks we ordered come with jasmine rice I asked about what I had heard and yes infact we could have coconut rice or sticky rice. We ordered with coconut rice which is always what we order with Thai food anyway.

Then the wait started, after about 20 minutes our server returned to tell us that or dishes were done but they had run out of coconut rice as well would we like to wait 10 minutes or so while they made more jasmine rice??? We didn't order jasmine rice, we told them to bring out the dishes and when the rice was ready to bring it of separately so we could at least get started on the noodle dish we ordered. After another 15 minutes our server arrived with 2 bowls, or more aptly clumps, of sticky rice and puts them on the table without an explanation.

At no time did anyone interact with us and apologize for the experience and offer any redress to what was happening.

We were in town for one night and found the Thai Orchid Room by chance early in the day and decided to head back for dinner.

The service was great, the restaurant was clean and the food was fast and very tasty. Highly recommend if you like...

In town over the weekend for an event, we decided to eat here as it was highly rated and had veggie options. We drove over and when we got in we could see It was very busy and almost all of the tables were filled so we were hoping there was something available. Right away we were greeted by a very polite Host and he set us up with a table promptly, making sure our seating arrangements were good and comfortable. He brought us silverware and our menus right away. I wish I grabbed his name because he made us feel very welcome and taken care of.

Mei, our server came shortly after, letting us know all of the specials and letting us decide for a while on our drinks and food. We ordered when she came back to check on us, and after waiting only about 3 minutes ( incredibly quick seeing as how busy it was ! ) our drinks arrived, and then our food not long after (Maybe 7 minutes total.)

I ordered the Tofu Pad Phet without fish sauce, and my girlfriend ordered the Veggie Noodle Pad Thai without egg.

The food was absolutely amazing, we both commented on how great it was throughout, and Mei came to check on us to see how it was tasting, and then again to see if we needed refills on our drinks or anything else. We finished our meals and paid.

Overall, our experience was that it is a very professional, clean and well-put-together restaurant. I only wish we visited Medicine Hat more often to enjoy the food and service again. Thank you guys, you're...

I had the good fortune to come to this restaurant with a friend. We were looking for something different than the regular food that you get at the big chain restaurants so we came here. This restaurant was a homerun for my friend who had never previously tried Thai food.

We walked in to find a beautifully decorated restaurant and welcoming staff. It was quite busy but still got us in right away.

NOTE - if you are a party of more than 6 people on a weekend you may want to consider reservations.

It was a cold evening so the large pot of Green Tea was perfect to start.

The satay chicken tasted great and had a generous portion as well as the coconut shrimp 🍤.

The Orchid Thai Salad with chicken was refreshing and had just a bit of kick to the dressing.

My friend really enjoyed the Pad Thai noodles.

We were so impressed by the service and food that we paid our compliments to the owner who took the time to cone from the kitchen and talk to us. She is such a wonderful person who truly loves her restaurant and...
