i was in Edmonton for work on the 15th of Feb , it was -20 snowing ..i didnt wanna leave the comfort of my hotel . I ordered food from this restaurant via skipthedishes, the food arrived on time (thanks to the delivery man) . i asked for the receipt ..he said NO , there is no receipt for food the restaurant didn't give him any receipt and if you want i can download it from the internet ..(fair enough since i ordered online LOL) anyways fast forward.. i got to room opened my parcel and ..i found im missing "fork and spoons " i was wondering how im gonna eat this without a spoon ? You know how oily and spicy it can get .. i called the restaurant girl answered (front desk) i told her the reason im calling , i heard her in punjabi/hindi .. telling the story to a guy which i assume is the owner anyways .. he answered the phone , guess what his first sentence were ? "whats your problem" i said my problem is i dont have a fork and spoon , he says : "did you pay for cutlery ? " i was taken aback by his question ..i said "sir im not asking for silverware but an ordinary plastic fork and spoon" He says "you orderd food you got the food" now if you haven't got cutlery go complain to skip the dishes its not our problem . i felt im talking to a wall , all i wanted from him was a sorry ! He in his typical East Indian aggression went on saying "this is what you get" you eat it ! else throw it away ! ...and hung up on me ! i went online and chatted with a skiptodishes agent ...she said we are deeply sorry and gave me a 5$ discount ... i guess thats what they think will cost me for buying cutlery . coming back to food.. remember i ordered from the menu and not from their buffet . i have eaten lamb biriyani for at least 30 years ..i tell you , what i got was not biriyani..the closest i can relate it to is a badly made fried rice with some goat meat ..not lamb.. the rice was dry and the meat was so hard ! "so like the owner suggested i threw it out" lucky i ordered some rasmalayi with it .. don't get me wrong it was good , so i didn't have to go hungry that night ! to that gentleman who spoke to me from RASOI ! ill post this in every column i see about your restaurant, i told you ill do it ..and you sarcastically said "do...
Read moreWell I have been eating here for almost a solid 5 years now and was probably closer to once a month we would order there butter chicken and saffire rice last month I orderd the same thing two butter chickens and two orders of rice Wich is close to 50 bucks, the price was never an issue cause it was really Delicious but now the portion size is so small , so last month I orderd and just thought it was a one off type situation , and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt , after all I have been eating here for close to six years now and feal like it was a staple of my diet . Last night I orderd and discovers it was not a one off it was the same thing the rice order was tiney ....even the butter chicken co taoners were half full and small as well , for 50 dollars I feel you should be able to feed a family of three ....and not have to cook up your own rice just to supplement cause we were all still hungry after.......
All and all I can't recommend this place any more just due to the portion size , it was extremely small for the price ....I wish I could of shown you how small of portions were sold for 50 bucks ....it kinda reminded me of dim sum , when u pay three dollars for a few chicken dumplings , but this was like paying 50 dollars....
The staff are always friendly and food is good , this is what kinda pains me to make a bad reveiw on this place but now this is two times , now I feel as if I received 10 dollars of food for over a hundred spent ...sad part is this place was once the only place to go to for butter chicken...slowly I can see them falling apart.....
Kids cup is for reference....just barely and food and they charged me 15 bucks for this....
And now just seeing all the reveiws it confirms what ever happened to this place in the last year ruined it , hopefully the owners can put some work in and get this place up and going again ....just reading over the reveiws shows me that there is actually no customer support either ... Sad...
Read moreI walked into Rasoi and was stunned by how beautiful the interior of the restaurant was decorated. I explained to the gentleman upfront I was craving a rice dish and went with his first suggestion.
The dish was amazing, the chicken was falling a part into the sauce, the best part though was the little things, like for example the flavor was not overpowering yet it was still quite spicy, typically most places don't know how to use the spicy and flavor, end up loading up on this flavor for the sake of it being spicy, not so here, really shows a masterclass in understanding the basics of cooking.
The other little thing was the quality of the take out container, this thing had sat for literally an hour, when I pulled the lid off it was like it had just been served, I'm not exaggerating at all it sat for an hour and was still steaming hot! Really great thing to see.
SECOND VISIT: July 14th, 7:50 PM
Service was great, the food tasted delicious, I got the goat curry meal, while I was eating I noticed rather large bones in the meal, see picture, which I was fine with its not a huge deal for me but the issue is that either some small pieces of these bones broke off or I don't know what to say but there were 2 small bone chips in there, about the size of a dime each and when I bit down both times the bone went into my gums and made me bleed heavily, furthermore I requested the extra hot dish and obviously the spices burned the wounds even more lol.
Im not sure if this is common in this meal but I will definitely never order it from here again, I haven't had any bad food from here yet and the service is great but hold the bones next time is something...
