We have been customers for about a year now, driving from Mississauga as a special treat for my kids (So we don’t visit frequently but this has been a special spot for us). The lady was never my favourite but I found if I was EXTRA sweet to her she was a little less crusty so I would always make an effort when ordering to be extra pleasant and never had a problem.
My kids wanted to introduce my mom to their favourite spot for fries and we had the worst service ever to the point where my kids have no interest in going back.
We ordered around 11:30am and there were only two of us in line at the time. We noticed many people coming and going for about 20 min who got their order before us. Eventually we spoke up and she said “I need to take care of my workers first”. So we waited 40 min for two fries and a poutine and she served EVERYONE before us and was SO rude to my sweet mother!! By this time there was another lady in line (who was not a “worker”) and she could see this was unfair and gave me the nicest smile and was just kind to me, so if she’s reading this thank you to her because I was beyond frustrated but it was not worth arguing with the awful woman at the counter.
So be warned the lady here has the capacity to be very rude to people who are TRYING to gain her approval lol…And… If you are not a “worker” and want some fries around lunch hour, you will have to wait.
Oh and about the food itself, its not magical, there are many places with better fries, I would mainly go here for the experience with my family...
Read moreI went here last weekend. I was having a "cheat weekend" we hit up a few food trucks in the area and I have to say by far, Capt'n Fry's was the best one. Came here on March 27, a cold Sunday afternoon. The food truck is on Steeles a little bit east of Martin St. you can't miss it. The lady that was working there was absolutely, remarkably nice. Very patient with us as it was our first time. We even got her to make us something that isn't really on the menu (Tater poutine). I thought the tater poutine was amazing, the seasoning on the taters mixed with the gravy and cheese was so tasty. We also had an order of fish n chips, the fish was very soft and tasty. They look like they were frozen fish sticks but they tasted like they were fresh fish filets. The onion rings were good and I also got a hotdog. The hotdog was pretty good, I ended up taking a bit of the bun off because I thought it was a lot of bread. We also got the mushrooms - they were the first thing to get finished, everyone loved them. The price was ok, not too expensive, it was average food truck prices with much better taste than any other food truck/fast food in the area. I would recommend this place to...
Read moreCapt’n Fry’s, the elusive chip truck in Milton, is a hidden gem in the world of French fries. Crispy, salty, and downright addictive. One bite and you'll be transported to a world where fries are the main course, and everything else is just an appetizer.
The truck itself is a true relic, like a time machine to the heyday of chips and grease. It's unclear if the Capt'n Fry's truck is even capable of driving anymore, but perhaps that's for the best. After all, why move when you've found the perfect spot to fry up your masterpieces?
The woman who runs the truck is as warm and welcoming as a freshly fried batch of chips. She exudes a sense of hospitality that can only come from someone who has spent years in the trenches of the chip truck business. Make sure to bring cash, because this place is so old school that they...
