Suwan's vegetable curry is a work of culinary art. Served in a lovely bowl. We also asked for a side platter of ripe pineapple chunks (not on the menu). I ordered the tiger shrimp salad and would not order that again, although the shrimp itself was plentiful and delicious, and tasted even better in a mayo-based dipping sauce (which is not on the menu - I asked for it). I thought the menu said the vegetable curry had lemon grass flavors and I did not taste that at all, and I love lemon grass - one big reason to eat Thai food, imho. Overall I would go there again for that vegetable curry. There was a front patio where we could sit and have our little dog on a leash near us. You can also pick up a cheap used paperback novel to read back at the cottage b/c the mosquitoes and flies drove you indoors, ha! The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that the small not good-looking salad I got was over $17 because I also asked for added fresh pineapple - it was the shrimp salad and the shrimp was delicious. I also asked for a dipping sauce (mayo-based) for the shrimp. Stay away from the shrimp salad or be prepared to return it back to the salad person.
My husband ordered the vegetable curry - also $17, plus he paid $2 extra for a small plate of fresh pineapple. The vegetable curry was absolutely delicious and we asked if next time we could be served a larger bowl and the answer was a definitive yes - we did not ask the price though. The vegetable curry is worth going back for - most excellent - best vegetable Thai curry I've ever had - lots of different veggies, even sections of brussel sprouts. The broth is excellent flavor and plenty of jasmine rice, with free extra rice.
After I finished my small $15 salad I was still hungry and I took some of hubby's rice and broth and tried to fill up, but I ended up afterward going to subway for a small panini to feel satiated for my dinner.
Next time we go there I would not order the salad and order the vegetable...
Read moreAfter walking in and being seated, our waitress came to see if "we were ready". No hello, specials or suggestions. Not even eye contact. She seemed inconvenienced by her job. After we placed our order and received our water, we never spoke to her again until we bothered her for a refill on our water. We were brought our appetizers after 20 minutes which didn't include the soup my boyfriend ordered. We brought this to their attention and then finally, he received his soup another 15 minutes later. The other appetizers were cold at this point. We asked when our entrees would be out (after almost an hour of waiting for rice and noodles). Our waitress said she would see and again...we didnt speak to her again. We were tired of waiting so we left and told them why. This happened while there were more staff in the restaurant thancustomers. The chef/cook is obviously unable to delegate tasks. She should consider getting rid of the part time highschool students and think about hiring people who actually pride themselves in doing good, hard and proper work. Work ethic is dead as far as this place...
Read moreAs a part time resident of Minden and a lover of Thai food, finding out that there was a new place in town excited me. That being said, I will never go back. I had ordered an "assorted mushroom soup with Thai seasoning - 1 chili heat"... What I got was a raw, white mushroom only, bathed in a luke warm water with grease separated, with GIANT chunks of nasty tomatoes in the bottom and 2 pieces of coriander. ZERO flavour, ZERO seasonings or spice, ZERO assortment. Awful. My boyfriend ordered a "SPICY" noodle dish, what he got was a plate full of soggy, starchy, Mr. Noodles with raw green pepper and a few pieces of 'beef' with no seasoning what-so-ever in it. 27$ for something that an elementary student could make using dollarstore ingredients?! Absolutely an embarrassment for both Thai cuisine and for the Town of Minden. We deserve far better food quality. Also, did not tip as the service...
