Rocko's Diner is a charming culinary haven that effortlessly blends old-school vibes with contemporary gastronomy. Nestled in the heart of downtown, this diner takes patrons on a nostalgic journey through time with its retro décor and classic comfort food, all while adding a modern twist to keep things exciting.
Walking into Rocko's Diner feels like stepping back in time. The vintage jukebox, checkerboard floors, and neon signs create an atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era. The attention to detail is impeccable, making it a great spot for those seeking a touch of nostalgia. The friendly staff adds to the warm ambiance, treating you like an old friend the moment you walk through the door.
The menu at Rocko's Diner is a carefully crafted blend of timeless diner favorites and innovative culinary creations. The all-day breakfast menu is a delight, offering a range of options from fluffy pancakes to hearty omelets. Their signature dish, the "Rocko's Big Stack," is a towering masterpiece of pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage that's a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds.
For lunch and dinner, the menu expands to include a variety of sandwiches, burgers, and entrees. The "Rocko's Classic Burger" is a must-try, perfectly capturing the essence of a juicy, classic American burger. But where Rocko's truly shines is in their creative specials. The "Fusion Fries," loaded with pulled pork and a tangy slaw, showcase their willingness to push the boundaries of diner cuisine.
The dessert selection is equally enticing, with milkshakes that transport you straight back to the 1950s. The "Dreamy Diner Delight" shake, a blend of velvety chocolate and creamy peanut butter, is an indulgence worth every calorie. If you're feeling more traditional, the pie of the day never disappoints; a generous slice of homemade goodness that's the perfect sweet ending.
While Rocko's Diner excels in its ambiance and menu, a minor improvement could be made in pacing during busy hours. The wait times can be a tad longer, especially during weekends when the place is bustling with families, couples, and groups of friends. However, the food's quality and the overall experience do manage to mitigate this inconvenience.
The prices at Rocko's Diner are reasonable, considering the portions and the overall dining adventure. It's not just a meal; it's an experience that brings together good food, nostalgia, and friendly service. Whether you're seeking a hearty breakfast, a quick lunch, or a leisurely dinner, Rocko's caters to a wide range of tastes and occasions.
In a world of modern and sleek eateries, Rocko's Diner stands out as a homage to simpler times. It's a place where memories are made over classic dishes reinvented with a contemporary twist. While there might be minor room for improvement, the unique blend of ambiance, cuisine, and service makes Rocko's Diner a must-visit for those who appreciate a taste of the past served with a side...
Read moreThey HATE on individuals who have diseases that make them incapable of eating gluten. But they don't put a warning sign on the front door so a person is unaware of what they are about to experience. They let you come in, a hungry traveller on a main highway, and then hate is placed in print in front of you that literally says "take a hike." I was clearly NOT welcome there.
To the ownership please just put the sign you printed on your menu on your front door. I attached the photo with this review. Let the people like me know before we enter and are subjected to hate in print towards our disability. I never chose my body this life or my illness. You made a point in your life, with your time, money and power to be mean and hateful and print it on every single menu in your restaurant. And you have your menu online. You expose countless individuals to that rhetoric. I would never have gone there willfully to be discriminated on. And no one was even brave enough to come talk to me about it or say that they were going to change the menu.
Instead they behaved like scared children. If those scaredy cats are the kinds of soldiers you have lol well 🤣 you are not prepared for your reckoning.
I would love a response from the haters and cowards who own/run this business to deny their prejudice. I would love even more an oath to immediately change the menu. Or at the very least put the take a hike sign that you printed on your menu in a big version on your front door.
Any accessibility this establishment have installed for people with limited mobility has been forced on them by municipal business or building code and regulations. This business is owned by individuals who would NEVER volunteer to make their business more welcoming to those with disabilities or anyone who doesn't fit their status quo. I am sure if they could, they would put a sign telling wheelchair bound individuals to take a hike but they're cowards so they hide in the dark and for whatever bizarre reason which they should explain to me with a response they only print hate towards celiac ppl and then distribute it to each and every...
Read moreA real gem, blast from the past very retro restaurant located in Mission, B.C. Just take a look at the photos, if that doesn’t want to make you dress up in 50’s wear, drive the old cadillac and listen to some Elvis Presley or Chuck Berry music. Love the decor!
Maybe one day they’ll add a drive in with girls/boys on rollerskates serving you right at your vehicles (something to think about).
I only gave it 4 stars coz I ordered their homestyle meatloaf but it was on the dry side. A little bit of sauce on top would have hidden that crunchy side of the loaf. Plus maybe more veggies instead of just corn on the side. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish, but the meatloaf wasn’t that great. Tasty, but not fresh it felt like it was heated in the microwave. So, skip the meatloaf.
There are other food to try in the menu. My companion ordered the “Rocko Burger” with fries. It was delish and the fries was yummy. Order gravy on the side and dip or cover the fries with gravy.
They have all day breakfast choices and I’ve tried that in a previous visit. Very good 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼.
Try other food, don’t go by what I have ordered (I was very hangry and craving meatloaf). The point is, live a little. Discover little Mom and Pop restaurant like this one. These type of restaurants are a rare find but they do exist and sometimes a trip to nostalgia is what you need to take your “blues” away.
Went back at Rockos Diner in Mission, BC, Wednesday, August 15, 2018. This time to try their house Salisbury Steak (see photos). Oh my yummy!!! Fresh from the grill the steak was very tasty and I loved that they topped it with caramelized onions. Once in awhile I craved that “country-style cookin’, and my Salisbury steak at Rocko’s did not disappoint.
After I licked off everything on my plate (NOT!), I asked to try one of their homestyle apple pie. I was beyond words. Next time you want a day trip out of Vancouver, B.C., stop for lunch at Rocko’s in Mission, you will not be...
