Was a bit disappointed going the first time with friends after reading reviews & making a reservation by phone with a very friendly person I assume was an owner.Upon arrival, the parking lot was uneven and in need of paving, making it unstable for walking. One of the windows of the restaurant was cloudy which also did not give a good first impression. Inside, we were not given the warm welcome many raved about. Our server seemed confused about where to seat the 4 of us & though the restaurant was not very busy, wanted to put us at a table in a far corner by the cash station where the walkway to washrooms were. He seemed to have a bit of an attitude when we asked to be reseated elsewhere but at least 3 other tables for 4 were available. The interior was lacking in atmosphere and since the restaurant was not busy, it felt a bit stark. I'm sure our waiter did not realize 2 of the 4 of us had lived in Italy when explaining the menu which was fine but his explanation of certain well known mains felt a bit condescending. When asked if he was one of the owners, assuming he could not be, he said he was a friend helping out and one owner was not there while the other was in the kitchen. Overall, the food was acceptable but not fantastic. Not a place we'd rush back to, unfortunately, since we so hoped it could become a good go to spot with friends and family. There are better places to spend almost $100 per person with better service, nicer atmosphere and similar food. Owners of this restaurant should be careful with front of the house staff and first...
Read moreMy husband and l discovered a gem of a restaurant called Franico’s in Mississauga on Saturday evening. (The restaurant’s sign ,with a sketch of the Leaning tower of Pisa and the Eiffel Tower, not only aptly represents the background of the owners but their Italian and French cuisine that is being served there). The Escargot and Duck Confit we both had, came with ample servings and were absolutely delicious! …And that tiramisu we ended our evening with… l can only describe as being “heavenly “. There is a sense of warmth and coziness in this restaurant and we especially appreciated the background music being played softly so as to allow conversations. A special shout out should be given to the waitress with her champagne personality. She goes the extra mile to accommodate the customers . When looking at the bar list, I said to her, l do really like Merlots but not if they are too dry for me. Immediately she said why don’t I let you taste it before you decide and she brought be a sample which was perfect for me so l ordered this. We will definitely be back here and recommending this...
Read moreI've been to this restaurant several times with my family. The food isn't just good, it's too good, excellent, exquisite! They have great taste, it's like home-cooked food. The appetizers are exquisite: the Caprese salad, the escargots, the tuna tartar, the Portobello Crostini. We started with one and it wasn't enough; we ordered two more. Highly recommended. The G Man Charcuterie has an excellent variety. The main menu is for the truly discerning who like a well-served meal, nothing fancy. We felt respected, finally. And the desserts: the tiramisu, the creme Brule, the real one, everything is delicious. The drinks: the best Sangria, the real one too, not cranberry juice with lots of ice, a little wine, and that's it, like they prepare it in other restaurants. Excellent Sangria and cocktails, and finally, a delicious coffee or espresso. Served by the owners. Friendly, excellent service. Worth the price if you want to...
