Mario's BBQ — Restaurant in Mississauga

I came here near closing yesterday, ordered the half chicken with 2 sides of potatoes.

Chicken was standard, seasoned well on the outside, slightly bland on the inside. 3.5/5

Potatoes were perfect and definitely the highlight of the meal. 5/5

Gave this place 2 stars because I had ordered 2 sides of potatoes, I would have been happy to order the chicken only if they told me they did not have potatoes. Instead the nice gentleman tells me it will be 15 minutes for the potatoes, no problem. 15 minutes later I pick up my order and leave expecting the food I had paid for, once home I open the box and they've provided me with 1 side of potatoes not 2 (the man had even repeated my order so he knew I wanted 2 sides of potatoes). Instead it came with a side of rice as the second side.

Thank you for letting me try the rice because I can say it's absolutely the worst thing you can order from this place. I don't know if it was because I came near closing so I received the last of the rice, but it was way too greasy. The chicken was not greasy, the potatoes were not greasy, but the rice was disgusting. My lips were coated with the rice grease, and I had to throw out 2/3 of the rice which I did not want to eat and did not even order.

I know this place for long time. It used to be very good, classic Portuguese chicken and fish. At some point I think there was change of ownership and the chicken quality was visibly different. Our biggest complaint was that the chicken was undercooked. So we stopped going there for long time. And then we decided to give it a try, second chance. We had an opportunity to talk about the issue with some lady - maybe owner or manager and she assured as that the chicken are 100% well done. So we got the family dinner and to our happiness the chicken was done properly. Again long brake because we moved out from the city, and just recently while shopping in this are we decided to buy again the chicken. Well, it was big disappointment after we arrived home and opened the boxes with food. Yes, the chicken was not eatable- undercooked again. It was too late to bring it back and make a complain. But we will never again try our luck with Mario’s BBQ. Safe the money and disappointment. The food is overpriced and you never know what you getting because we ask for grilled chicken and we got from rotisserie. They don’t pack the food so you can see it. My wife made the order and all of sudden we got the boxes...

I have been going to this place on a regular at least weekly for the past year. Their quality and price of food have won me over from other competitors that have a similar style of cooking and menu. Always been treated with respect and the staff that run this location are friendly as can be. Not sure why some reviewers are saying that they are rude/impolite. The portions are VERY generous, so generous that I can get 2 meals out of my order. I usually get a half chicken combo with 2 sides for under $12 tax inc. Rice and veggies, there are two different veggie mixes to choose from but they even let me have a bit of both as one side, plus I get the rice as another. Other places will even upcharge for the veggies, but not here at Mario's. Chicken is always done just right, not too well done which leaves the right amount of moisture and tenderness. They even give you their trademark packaging of cutlery which includes a wet wipe as well! Every thing here exceeds my expectations. If you want good quality food at unbeatable prices then I'd surely recommend Mario's at...
