First of all, I am not writing this review to disrespect the restaurant.

I went to the restaurant couple days back with few of my family members and friends and we sat at different tables because my aunt who came with us eats swaminarayan food.

We went to the restaurant around 7 PM and 80% of restaurant space was empty. We were asked to sit on separate corners of the restaurant even when there was space to accommodate all in one corner. We did not complain about the seating arrangements.

After our appetizers came in, our food was pretty late. People that came after us got the food early so in the mean time, two of my friends went to other table to see what they order and one of them tasted the food on the table. Note- it was our family sitting on that table.

The server asked us to sit back at our table and said it wasn’t allowed to roam around in an “empty” restaurant. Respectfully, none of us went to anyone’s table after the server asked us not to. After we went back home, one of my friend shared a review about the service since it was very rude and we felt like we were rushed.

After sharing it, the restaurant owner came back with a reply with multiple issues they had with us as a customer and two of those were - us sitting separately to avoid gratuity and another about roaming around in the restaurant which we stopped once were said not to.

Few of my other friends shared the review after the rude comments from the owner on our friends feedback and in all the replies they said we were roaming around. My reason to post the feedback is to justify on that. They have mentioned on how they had no issues with us sitting separately but then on the same time have said us that we did it to avoid gratuity, so it makes no sense on why they would mention it if they didn't have issue with it.

Being a food service owner myself, I have always taken feedback from my customer gracefully whether if it is a compliment or a complaint. After facing this problem, I checked few other review and there are multiple comments with the service and rude behaviour of the management. I don't think there was any action taken on this but replying back to customer and justifying the rude behaviour makes no sense. If you cannot accept customer’s "FEEDBACK GRACEFULLY", please do not allow the customer to post any comment.

Lastly, I had no complaints with the taste of food. But personally, I would never go to any restaurant where I and my family are treated rudely even when the food is nice.

It is my humble request to the restaurant owner to improve the service along with reaction to the feedback. We would not have all commented on the same issue if the restaurant would have accepted our compliment “along”with the critic gracefully.

Lastly, I am not expecting a reply back if this is going to turn into an argument like all my friends feedback turned into. The first feedback was meant to be a humble suggestion but it looks like the restaurant owner did not like the way we shared our critic. So please do not come back to me with an argument on how we could have done better as a customer in order to have had a better experience at...

This restaurant has gone so downhill since the management change. I have tried couple of times after the management change, and you can really see the difference. Everyone from servers to chefs have changed. Food taste has also changed. We have recommended this Sankalp to so many friends of ours but not anymore.

On top of this, my wife went to the restaurant on 11th September at 9.20 pm. Google shows the restaurant is open till 10. When she entered the restaurant, all lights had been turned off except the kitchen lights. She waited for a few mins, called for help, literally yelled "hello" and "excuse me" for a few of mins but no one bothered to come out. There was this one girl who was looking out of kitchen door's glass from the moment my wife entered the restaurant. She literally looked 10 times outside and even had an eye contact with her but she didn't bother to come out and greet. She finally came out of kitchen when her shift ended in a few mins and said that the last call for the order is at 9.15 pm. When my wife confronted her, she said that kitchen has a blacked out window! If the windows are blacked out, and you can't see outside, then why would someone keep looking?

Worst experience ever! If the restaurant has practically closed, then why bother keeping the doors open? At most of the restaurants, final call is typically 20-30 mins prior to restaurant's closing time. Staff should have basic decency to at least come out and greet the customer not continuing the talks with peers! They heard my wife but simply didn't care and continued the...

I was really excited to try this place out since it opened. My husband and I made a one hour journey solely because I wanted to try their South Indian food which is what they’re famous for. Arriving there the staff treated us warmly since I had a broken leg they were really accommodating and made sure I was comfortable. The menu here was diverse. They have North Indian, Hakka food, South Indian, apps and sizzlers. I ordered Rava onion Masala dosa which I was super excited for. The sad part was I waited forever for my dosa to arrive. On asking the server she kept saying cz its rava dosa it takes time. I understand it takes time but seeing other tables served with that dosa when they came after us I was just having a hard time understanding that. I have a feeling they forgot that order but wouldn’t accept that and just kept telling me it would take longer. It was over half hour when I finally got my dosa I would say it was worth the wait the dosa was nice and crispy and exactly how I remember tasting it back in India and was awed by their sambhar and chutneys but I couldn’t really enjoy it as I was full from other food items. I additionally got their vadapav to try it out and was disappointed it was bite sized and def not worth the price I was paying don’t get me wrong it was delicious. I got their Chinese sizzler which was amazing. I’ve really missed having sizzlers in Canada and I’m so glad they have the perfect sizzlers.. I will def come back to try their North...

I recently visited Sankalp Restaurant and tried some of their chef's special dishes. Here's my review of each: The Chef Special Matki Paav Bhaji Dosa was a delightful fusion of flavors. The dosa was perfectly crispy on the outside, and the filling of matki paav bhaji was flavorful and aromatic. The combination of the traditional dosa with the spicy and tangy bhaji worked surprisingly well together. Sambar and coconut chutney was made with traditional Indian spices. The Sev Puri was a burst of flavors in every bite. The puris were crisp and filled with a delightful mix of chutneys, sev, and various toppings. The balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy elements was on point. The Ghee Dosa was a classic preparation that satisfied my taste buds. The dosa had a perfect golden-brown color and was generously smeared with ghee, which added a rich flavor to every bite. The Veg Manchow Soup was a comforting and flavorful choice. It had a good mix of vegetables, and the broth was well-seasoned with the right amount of spices. The soup had a slightly spicy kick to it, making it perfect for those who enjoy a bit of heat. Ambiance and Service: The ambiance at Sankalp Restaurant was pleasant and family-friendly. The restaurant had comfortable seating and a clean, inviting atmosphere. The service was attentive, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Rating 10/10

Having visited Sankalp since childhood in Ahmedabad, we were very excited to visit this place. Unfortunately, we could not visit earlier as we dont live in the neighborhood. But finally did a dine in today, and here goes the experience. 1. Cheese dosa - 6/10. We were very disappointed to get room temp sambar. It is very unlikely for Sankalp, brand that specializes in Dosa and other South Indian delicacies. 2. Manchow soup - 9/10. Absolutely delicious. Thank you for making our taste buds feel we were back home. 3. Indo-chini sizzler - 9/10 again. Food full of flavors and we relished the taste. Now the down sides, Unfortunately there were few. 1. First and foremost, we had to ask for plates and cutlery, and that, too, once the food was served. It's absolutely unacceptable. 2. Two napkins were given between the family of four. Again we could surely ask for more but did we really have to as customers? I mean it's basic restaurant etiquette. 2. Below par serving size in comparison to prices, but we do understand how everything is going up. Make sure to order a couple of dishes more than what you are used to. We will be surely coming back as we love brand Sankalp and food on offer. Hopefully these minor glitches will be fixed before our next visit. Good luck and once again thank you for preserving that authentic taste.
