This little Madagascar restaurant pleasantly surprised me. The menu is not extensive but offered enough variety that gave us an overview of what Madagascar is about: a mix of different cultures.

The soup was like the Chinese wonton soup, but the broth has been enhanced with the smokiness of the bbq pork. The spring rolls were nice and crispy, just like the Vietnamese nems. The fish flavor of the accras was very forward, and served with a jam super intense in sourness and saltiness. The sausage curry had a nice creole-style tomato sauce, the hint of curry was not super apparent, but great consistency to eat with the rice. The green stew made of yucca leaves and coconut reminded me of the the matcha flavor, the dish was very tasty, a new discovery for me. Finally for desserts, the yucca cake was great, nicely presented, and the warm banana cake was also quite interesting, though I preferred the yucca one.

Overall the setting and the food felt very cosy. I would...

I found this gem through Mtl a la Table. The course was $50. Me and my friend got the chayote salad and tilapia accras to share. Then we went with the tilapia filet and ravitoto. Lastly, we shared both the cassava cake and creme brulee. We absolutely loved the food! We were surprised at how similar the food was with indonesian and vietnamese. The food was super homey and nostalgic. The standouts for me were the chayote salad, ravitoto, and cassava cake. The only thing that didnt live up to the standards of the other dishes was the creme brulee. It’s more of a flan and super eggy and the sugar top wasnt crunchy. However, despite that, i would love to go again to try their other dishes. The service was also impeccable. Super friendly staff and the food arrived fairly quickly. It seems to be a family run business and the restaurant itself is...
