Akami sushi — Restaurant in Montreal

Tried here for the first time because they were advertising %20 off for their new opening. Ordered their general tao chicken and was shocked at how SMALL the portions were! I mean they really skimp on the chicken… there were like 8 small pieces total. I would never pay full price, even with the discount. For that price, I would have expected at least a full plate of general tao chicken, just like many other asian restaurants. What a joke! You get much better portions elsewhere like Ma poule mouillé for your hard...

New kid on the block, I stopped in for a quick sushi take-away and was pleasantly surprised; I ordered a combo Chef's Choice, which was generous, fresh, and tasty. Soy was sweet and appropriate, wasabi had a nice bite to it. Location is clean. Staff and, whom I presume are the owners, were smiling, polite, and friendly. Overall atmosphere welcoming, with live plants and a good number of tables tucked to the back. Nice addition to the neighborhood. I will be back to sample more of...

We weren't sure what to expect as this place opened very quickly and has a pan-Asian menu (which sometimes means everything is decent but nothing is great), but we decided to try the sushi and it was delicious. The service is friendly, fast and accommodating and the prices are reasonable. This isn't the place to go if you're looking for an upscale dining experience, but for a nice, casual dine-in or takeout meal I'd recommend...
