Atomic Café — Restaurant in Montreal

Update: changed my rating after a mediocre visit last week. There was three staff in total and the first took my order. Then only after the food was made, he said I need to re-order my drink from the other staff. The food was already finished so I decided not to order our drinks after all. We were confused as to why the staff member didn't pass along our drink order to the barista in the first place, and the staff told us it was due to the barista arguing with him. I don't care about professionalism in a cafe, but at least a sensible ordering system. Yet again they did not have the ingredient to make my initial sandwich choice, so it seems they're often with unavailable menu items or broken appliances. Ended up with the AtomOeuf again, guess I'll never get to try that Croque.

Original: Was in desperate need of a hangover americano and carbs. atomic was open and I ordered an Americano with the Atomoeuf, with the sliced turkey. The first few choices were unavailable as it was early but the breakfast bagel sandwich was great. The Americano helped out but had some grinds, but I didn't mind as I'd asked for a large so I assume it was a loose allongé. It was surprisingly cheap as well, only $12 after tips and tax for a coffee and hearty sandwich. I'll be back...

And the award for the cheesiest nachos 🧀🧀🧀 I have ever eaten goes to Montreal's legendary Atomic Cafe located only 2km from the (in) famous Olympic Stadium in Montreal's East End! Even though I was born and raised in Montreal before moving to Toronto in my early 20's (seems like yesterday lol) I still ❤️ visiting and exploring new places 🥂

Atomic Cafe When entering the Atomic Café, you will immediately be immersed in another era, because the retro layout and colorful decor make this place simply unique and warm! The charm of this place is also found in the food and drinks they offer: delicious sweets, original beverages, varied meals (sandwiches, nachos, croque-monsieur, etc.) all homemade, of course!

Events are regularly organized there with live musicians or crazy themed evenings in a festive and friendly atmosphere . The evenings offered are diversified and correspond to all styles.

To study, have a drink, take a break or even dance, come and try this typical and original place at any time of the day to have a good...

The drip coffee is good, the place looks cool and hip and the service is friendly. I didn't try their food.

Their lattes are terrible, however. Details below.

The ground coffee beans have been sitting in a box exposed to the air for quite a while. This really ruins the taste the longer it sits there. I'm not even sure if the roast was fresh to begin with. The barista then..scoops the coffee grounds from this container to prepare a latte with. I've never seen anything like that before.They should really look into how to properly prepare espresso based drinks starting from fresh beans. Being a hip/hipster place is no excuse to be completely clueless about the process.

I hope they look into it since this place has great potential with a little work when it comes...
