Tacos Lakalaka Hochelaga — Restaurant in Montreal

We arrived at 13:50 on Sunday. The restaurant was nearly empty (3 tables of 2 and a party of 10, but they were on their go). We ordered at 13:55, at 14:07 we requested the waitress that we need to go soon and she replied back that the kitchen was prep the food and soon to be served. At 14:45 still nothing has been served therefore we needed to go. We ended up paying for take out but discretely the waitress has included the tip (by chance I was aware enough to remove tip).

First the food and atmosphere was good nothing to say about that. And we also understand that’s not a fast food strip mall thing therefore by coming before 14:00 (since we only had 1 hour to eat) it was enough sufficient for our lunch. We did not order anything fancy, 2 tacos and 1 quesadillas, literally it would take 10-15 to do, especially when they were 2-3 staff people in the kitchen.

Second inputting the tips amount without my consent that’s a violation of the law (OPC). I was able to intercept it.

Lastly it was a disappointment since we wanted to try something new and also we had advised the waitress about our time constraints, if she was quick enough to warn us that would take more time, we would take it to-go and enjoy our meal without any complaints but anyway I am writing this to telling you that if you come there, be aware of the...

I came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon - it was pretty empty. I saw many videos and ads on social media beforehand so that is how I found out about this place. The evening atmosphere based on the videos seems much livelier - an ideal party spot.

We wanted to try some beef birria tacos however were told they were not yet ready - in a way, that is good news if they are making it fresh to anticipate the dinner ruch. We settled for other types of beef tacos and some type of a quesadilla. These are served with guacamole, lime, and a fresh cream - similar to sour cream. At the table, there are 2 bottles of sauces - these were tasty but both extremely spicy for our liking.

The taco plates are not served with any sides and are in the $20 range. I found this to be pricey as the portion initially looked small, but they are all well stuffed so end up being very filling. The flavors were fresh, well seasoned and very tasty. It hit the spot.

Service was friendly and prompt, our server was hispanic and did not speak much english or french however.

Note that they do offer an all-you-can-eat special on some nights of the weeks for tacos as well as chicken wings - this is worth the price if you have a large appetite. Make sure to check our their Facebook page...

The first time I tried coming here was a few months ago and I ended up leaving because after 20 minutes, nobody had taken our order. Today, we came back and we had the worst service of our life, or no service at all, even if it was not very busy. When we entered we waited a while and we had to go grab a waitress that was not paying any attention to the entrance. When we finally got a table, it took another 35 minutes for someone to take our order. The QR code was not working, nobody offered water. All the tables around us got their order before us, even if they arrived way after us. Nobody brought ustensiles, or came see us, except to ask us what was our order when it was meant for another table. The food was less good then any other Mexican restaurant I've tried in Montreal.
