Basilico Pizza and Pasta — Restaurant in Montreal

Placed a phone order for a pickup. They put no sauce at all in a carbonara and alfredo. For anybody who knows these names, knows that both these dishes come with a spectacular creamy white sauce. What I got was spaghetti with bacon bits and no sauce. The Alfredo had such little sauce, like they ran out of it and had to put it in our order as a last resort.

And this is where the issue starts. When I called to complain, the lady tried making plenty excuses saying “we don’t put sauce if you live further than 10 mins”, “it (the sauce) may be less but not missing” and a couple more.

The owner kept giving instructions on what to say to the poor lady but refused to speak with me when asked to although I could hear him give her instructions on what to say.

They tried offering me a store credit and when I told them I didn’t live in Montreal, they didn’t seem to care.

The food was above average (not the best I’ve had). But I have a problem with people with a bad attitude. If there’s anybody who reads my review, my suggestion is not to go there just to address the poor attitude of the owner.

I’m expecting a response from this place with a standard “we’re sorry you experienced this…” to address the strength of the review and I request you (the reader of this review) not to fall...

I discovered this restaurant today and I am so glad I did! The food was delicious. The portions are generous. I have been to other Italian restaurants where you get a small portion and you pay a lot more. At Basilico, the prices are reasonable. There are a lot of choices to pick from. I had "Gigi" the pasta. I loved every bite I had. I tasted the pizza. It's also amazing! We ordered several deserts as you can see in the photos. They were all fresh, savory and very beautifully presented. Though they do not have big selection, the things they offer tasty enough for the price.

We came here on Saturday evening at 17:30 and it was literally the only place still empty for people to come without reservation. Otherwise nothing within 10km.

We had Greek Pizza and Carbonara. I would give 4 stars for the food as it was a bit salty both dishes, but not overly.

For the dessert Strawberry Panna Cotta and Cannoli. First time I've eaten unsweetened cannoli, but overall they were good. Loved Panna Cotta! 😍

Parking is free and easily accessible. Staff are friendly...
