This cafe was a beautiful visit! Let me break down my experience here:
First, the atmosphere of the cafe is quite nice. It seems to always be full of people, which is a good sign. All the walls are decorated with different kinds of art, might it be photography, fabric art, or paintings. The furniture comes in different sizes and shapes (some being large tables with benches, and some being smaller, circular tables with chairs around it), and they all fit the vibe of a modern, hip cafe. The majority of patrons sitting down are doing work, and the music is quiet enough to allow yourself to focus. If you have some work to do, the energy here is great for that! Also, they have a clothing rack full of items you can purchase. My friend commented saying that they’re reasonably priced and cute. She found two pieces she ended up buying, which is rare for her!
Second, the drinks. The matcha had an earthly, real flavor to it. I really like the flavor of real matcha, so I loved my drink. If you prefer a more starbucks matcha flavor, I imagine you will think theirs tastes like dirt. My friend got their latte, and she quite liked the flavor. She said the flavor of the espresso was dark and enjoyable, but also admitted she didn’t know how to properly describe it as she loves all kinds of coffee. From the way the drink smelled and the color of the espresso, I can assume that the expresso was pulled properly and the beans are of high quality. I would highly recommend the matcha, and my friend would recommend the latte!
Third, the food. Both my friend and I got a chocolate croissant. I got one that was leftover from the day before (I’m a little cheap and it was 20% off) and got it warmed up. It was quite delicious! I can imagine it being pretty mediocre if I didn’t get it warmed up, but I like to think that was because I got a leftover one. My friend got a fresh one and commented on how good it was, so that’s a good sign! If you get their baked goods, I think I would just warm it up. If not, shell out more money for a fresher one.
Finally, the workers. The workers were quite nice and fast! I didn’t have a long interaction with either of them, but they were polite and kindly smiling as they spoke to me. I was slightly confused when picking up my friend’s latte at the bar, but the barista didn’t seem to be annoyed by me. They seem to be pretty patient here! Also, they speak both english and french, for those of us who are visiting and only know bonjour or merci.
To conclude, this is a great cafe spot! I would come again if I wasn’t visiting for a short time.

Read moreStumbled upon this cafe as I was heading to my destination. Thought nothing of it and had no expectations but when entering, I immediately enjoyed the chill and vibrant atmosphere. I ordered an iced mocha made with 10%, my usual go-to during the summer. The drink was done in about 4 minutes, I kid you not, it was THAT good. It wasn’t too sweet, not overly chocolatey, and the espresso beans perfectly complimented the drink; literally everything was at the right ratio. I had to go back to let the barista know and also purchased a bag of the beans they had used. If ever I go back to Montréal, I will definitely be coming back to café léo.
edit: finally got my film rolls developed!
1-year post-review visit: went back Aug 6 for the same iced drink I bought in my original review, I was genuinely excited (I even purchased a different bag of beans to bring back home) until: a) I realized the barista taking orders punched in an Americano instead and b) the barista making drinks said they don’t make mocha’s with cream even after being told and acknowledging what my drink will be. Talk about embarrassing—the experience was a complete 180 as previously above. Even if the food looks great and the dining area is amazing, a café is only as good as the service provided and consistent ...
Read moreThe atmosphere was good. It’s decorated well. Good for working space. We ordered 2 iced latte, cookie and kouign amann, all for 23$. This morning i was so happy and want to get the coffee from this place until i come in, no smiling, i ordered waiting for the coffee, At first i was smiling the staff but no smile back at all. i took photos to give a review but then when i record the pouring coffee in the cup part as attached without people face at all. I think the bartender guy feel like i took his photo, and feel offended, he told me like next time if u want to record let other people know first, and no smiling…i was like what, i didnt even have ur face in my video. I understand ur privacy and i always respect that and if i want the people in my video i will always ask first and didnt even ask me if i took ur face. There is other way to tell people in a nicer way and with the service mind. I know u might feel offended and i feel that too. Also, the girl who took my order come to support the bartender saying that i should let them know as they got people took photos of their face all the time. I also shows the video to them but i still get the same answer. I got you and i wont come back to this...
