Not great service and the food was very mediocre, you’re better off at another brunch spot to be very honest. Ordered the demi demi which was an egg’s Benedict with some waffles and tater tots. The food was room temperature when delivered (meaning it’s been sitting out for while) and it took only 10 mins to arrive. Makes me wonder how long the food was actually just sitting there. Also no menu in English which is really non-inclusive isn’t it? The guy at the bar was very nice to help translate though, the one star rating is for him. My server was really rude, she came up and served me water but only spoke to the lady beside me to ask what she wanted. When she walked back I made eye contact with her and she spoke to me from afar and said “you wanted the demi demi right?” I’d expect you to at least try to walk over, especially since there’s a tipping culture here in Montreal. Oh, forgot to mention that when I entered the guy just told me “walk on straight” I’d expect just a little bit more at least make sure my seat’s all set up (with glass and utensils) before bringing me to my seat right? Basic playlist too - just not the best restaurant to be very honest. The glass house might look pretty but it’s very very hot especially if they place you at the bar (which they did for me). Place looks like it’s run by a bunch of students, and definitely feels and tastes like it too. Don’t recommend this place and don’t understand its 4 star rating. I couldn’t wait to get out of this throbbing heatwave that radiates through the glasshouse. Ate and left in 30 mins, absolutely disappointing. Another thing - I asked for the cheque from the same waitress that took my order, and she said “he’s your waiter”. I’m obviously confused because as a customer I never interacted with any male waiter, and second of all, at that point, I don’t really care who my waiter is I just want to pay the bill. I responded with a “oh?” And she said “yes I’m telling you he’s your waiter, I’ll go and tell him you’d like to pay”. I can’t emphasise how rude this entire experience is, it’s by far the worst service I’ve ever had in Montreal. I would give it zero stars if not for the kind bar boy who translated the menu for me.

Visited Ginkgo for brunch on a Sunday morning. Despite not having a reservation, we only waited about 15-20 minutes for a group of five, which wasn’t bad at all. The interior of the place is stunning—truly impressive design. The service added to the experience; the staff were friendly, cracking jokes and making us feel very welcome. We found the menu was mainly in French, which wasn’t an issue for us since we could read it, but it’s something to note if you’re not a French speaker. The smoked salmon omelette was a highlight—stuffed with plenty of salmon, cream cheese, and capers, it was so flavorful that I might even prefer it over a traditional smoked salmon benedict. The Florentine omelette was also excellent, loaded with cheese and spinach, and the portion sizes were just right. The classic smoked salmon benedict was exactly as you’d want it to be, hitting all the right notes. Overall, Ginkgo is a fantastic spot if you’re looking for a cute, upscale place for brunch over the weekend in Montreal. Just be prepared to wait a bit if you don’t have a reservation. I’m definitely looking forward to another visit next time I’m in town!

We were thrilled to visit this place for the first time because of the beautiful decor and good ratings, however our first visit left us a little disappointed. Upon arrival we asked a table for two, were asked if we had a reservation but we didn’t. So they took us to the far back, in a place that’s outside the restaurant and more on UQAM grounds. As we made our way through the restaurant, many tables were vacant with a “reserved” sign on top. It was a little slow to get a server. We also noticed it was taking time for other tables too. Our food tasted ok, with both toasts from eggs Benedict on the burnt side. Our coffee spoon was poorly cleaned (see picture) We finished our meal and paid and the indoor tables were still empty. So why make us sit outside if the tables are going to be left vacant? We felt this was poor table management from the restaurant. Overall there was no love connection. we felt it was nice to “discover” a new location but we don’t feel as though we would return. A generous 3 stars

I would give 0 if I could. To begin, we had a reservation. To be fair we were running a little late, but when we got there we learned that there was a line of reservations waiting to be seated. We were told had we arrived on time we would have had to wait another hour anyways despite our reservation… We were able to get seated relatively quickly upon our (late) arrival and our server told us in transparency that kitchen was busy and it would take about an hour for food to be served. Until that point it was fine.

Food took 1hour 45 min and arrived cold We had to get cutlery ourselves for our group of nine because they did not attend to us 2/9 of the orders were wrong and they did not seem happy to fix our dishes There were other groups waiting to be seated and almost everyone in the restaurant were waiting for their food for at least an hour Clearly understaffed, not sure what management is doing but servers looked incredibly stressed out (looked like they were crying!!!) Our bottomless mimosa did not taste like mimosa- not sure enough alcohol was added. Tasted like plain orange juice, no sparkle Things we requested were very frequently forgotten Cups they gave us to drink water were dirty Tables everywhere left unbussed for hours

Long story short, I would strongly recommend you go elsewhere. Not sure how this place had so many good reviews. I’m total we ended up spending about 3.5 hours there. We were very excited but left extremely shocked. It was so shocking it felt like a...

Very disappointed experience. Although I was told it’s a nice place for breakfast, I was expecting a fair quality-price ratio which was absolutely not the case.

I ordered the “Classic Benedict & breakfast poutine” with a Choice of ham or bacon Benedict , served with a small breakfast poutine casserole from their menu. The plate I got was the classic breakfast which came with 2 eggs, so I told the server it was not what I ordered. She took it back to kitchen to bring back the same plate with 1 egg and hollandaise sauce and cheese over the fries. Here is the interesting detail: If you look at the menu it says “casserole”… if they decide To just add the cheese and sauce on the fries to make a poutine, then why take away the other egg which was already prepared? Was it for another client’s order or to throw it away?

Needless to say that my plate was no longer warm when they brought it back, and obviously the sauce was not warm enough to melt the cheese which was still cold!

Also my friends were served coffee without milk, cream or a spoon to stir. Pretty basics for a minimum service level expected, and not because the place was packed or a lack of personnel.

All that for $20

So if you want to avoid having a surprise which could go either way (good or bad), I would not...
