If you're on the hunt for a gluten-free haven,  @cantinepanella is one of the best we've found so far. This certified gluten-free cantine offers an impressive array of options that cater to every palate and craving, making dining out a breeze for those with gluten sensitivities. They offer hearty, fresh, and exciting daily specials that can also be taken to go. There's something for everyone to enjoy. The baked goods are nothing short of exceptional. We were particularly enamored with their muffins, mini pies, and cinnamon buns, each crafted with care and bursting with flavor. They currently have Halloween-themed treats, including a delightfully eerie pie shaped like a bloody hand—an imaginative touch we absolutely loved! All the menu items are 100% gluten-free, and they have a large selection of breads made with very interesting flours that don't use corn or rice. As if the food alone weren't enough to impress, they also offer a selection of amazing gluten-free beers that we hadn't encountered before. It was a delightful surprise. @cantinepanella truly elevates the gluten-free dining experience. Whether you're grabbing a quick meal to go or indulging in one of their unique treats, you're sure to leave with a smile and a satisfied appetite.

Cantine Panella is the best gluten-free bakery/sandwich shop we have ever been to! I would challenge anyone to find one that’s better…they can’t! This place has exceptional service, fantastic food, excellent coffee and desserts so good, they’re better than regular desserts that are not gluten-free! We got their asado and butifarra sandwiches - one beef and one pork, and they were amazing. The bread was so good (you would never know it was gluten-free) and the meats were marinated so nicely. Highly recommend these if you’re looking for a full meal, but BE SURE to save room for dessert!! For example, they have the best tiramisu I have ever tasted (and I’ve had 100s of tiramisus all over the world, gluten-free and not), and that’s just one thing out of many. They bake all their bread fresh every day and you can get so many different types of wonderful gluten-free bread - be sure to come early before they start to sell out! They even have amazing coffee…we got an iced latte and it was so much better than expected. Nice, strong coffee! All in all, I would highly encourage anyone to come to Cantine Panella - I wouldn’t really call it a “hidden gem”, but more people still need to know about it!!

Checked out Cantine Panella Sans Gluten, a 100% gluten free cafe, for a weekday lunch. Go up to the counter to order, food’s brought to your table. There’s a menu du jour/soir ($19/22) but only from Wednesday to Saturday. - Latte ($4.50) - piping hot - Zamalek infusion d’hibiscus ($13.00 bottle) - very light, tasted like hibiscus juice - Muffin banane ($4.00) - Biscuit avoines & chocolat ($3.00) - Soupe du jour ($9.00) - carrot squash soup with grilled bread. Smooth texture - Lasagna bolognese ($15.00) - looks small but a decent portion. Tasted like regular lasagna - Lasagne aux aubergines ($14.00) - Primavera pizza ($18.00) - added vegan cheese ($2.00). Pizza was tiny, thin crust style - Asado sandwich ($15.00) - messy but tasty. Sandwich is more like a mini baguette - Pascualina quiche ($8.50) - Tarte a la lime ($8.00) - excellent - Jalousie aux peches ($5.50) - peach danish - Foret noire ($10.00) - not too sweet

A Must-Visit for Gluten-Free Dining in Montreal

My family and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cantine Panella, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Traveling with my wife and daughter, who both have celiac disease, can often be challenging, but Cantine Panella made it effortless and enjoyable.

We took an Uber from our airport hotel to the restaurant, and I must say, we were not disappointed. The owner was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, especially since his son also has celiac disease. This personal connection made us feel at ease, knowing that our dietary needs were well understood and catered to, given 100% gluten free establishment.

The variety of meals available was impressive, and our entire family of six thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience, even those without celiac disease.

I highly recommend Cantine Panella to anyone visiting Montreal, especially those who have celiac disease. We will definitely be returning whenever we find ourselves in...
